Dr. Ruth To Introduce "Music In Desperate Times" Concert At St. John The Divine On March 28

Dr. Ruth K. Westheimer is confirmed to introduce the Woodstock, N.Y.-based choral ensemble Ars Choralis' performance of "Music in Desperate Times: Remembering the Women's Orchestra of Birkenau" concert on Saturday, March 28th at St. John the Divine.

Known for her unique style as a famous psychosexual therapist, Dr. Ruth also has a personal connection to the Holocaust, as she was transferred as a child out of Nazi Germany to Great Britain by the Kindertransport - a story she detailed in her autobiography "Musically Speaking: A Life Through Song."

"Music in Desperate Times" will tell the little-known story of how music saved the lives of the only women's orchestra in the Auschwitz/ Birkenau concentration camp during World War II by interweaving orchestral music with spoken memoirs from the women.

Tickets for the show are $150 (dress circle), $45 (front reserved), $35 (front unreserved), and $25 (house) and can be purchased at http://tinyurl.com/Tickets-for-Performance or 866.811.4111.
