Danya Kurtz makes a big pot of gumbo before all of her recording sessions. With two full length LPs coming out April 10, she had a lot of cooking to do. "I'm a big believer that excellent food helps make excellent records."

'American Standard' is Dayna at her rootsy best, belting out mostly self-penned swampy blues and drunken rockabilly awash in slide guitar and harmonica. She's joined on a couple of tunes by special guest and rockabilly legend Sonny Burgess as well.
'Secret Canon Vol. 1' is a collection of raw, stirring interpretations of lost classics by the likes of Floyd Dixon and The Blenders. Dayna croons over sparse and elegant piano ballads and scorching Hammond B-3 organ swells on gems like stunning album opener "Do I Love You" and "Not The Only Fool In Town," the only original on this album.
Most of these songs were recorded in one take. All were cut to tape, and 'Secret Canon Vol.1' will be released on 180 gram vinyl.
