The Leader of Traditional Country Abroad Celebrates RIAA Gold and 7th Consecutive #1 Single

"Proud country traditionalist" (New York Times) Aaron Watson ended 2015 with an album hailed by Billboard, The Nashville Scene and iTunes as one of Country music's top picks. 'The Underdog' also established Watson as a Billboard history-maker when he became the only independent, solo male Country artist to debut #1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. This month Watson surged into 2016 as a festival headliner in France, Italy and the UK, selling out headlining shows while celebrating his 7th consecutive #1 single ("Getaway Truck") on the Texas Radio Chart.

Watson kicked of his European run with a sold-out show at the Zenith Omega in Toulon, France, followed by standing-room-only crowds in Manchester, Birmingham and London, UK. Wrapping his 5-date tour abroad, Watson headlined the 1st Annual Billy Bob's Fair in Padova, Italy, playing for more than 6,000 fans across 15 countries.

The release of 'The Underdog' validates Watson is "winning in country music" (NPR), lofting the Texas favorite into the national spotlight and providing him with the momentum that lifts him to new heights internationally.

In addition, Watson was presented with an RIAA Gold plaque in Belgium for his recording of Merle Haggard's "Working Man Blues" with Universal Belgium recording artist Robby Longo, demonstrating that "substance reigned over shallow hick-hop" (Nashville Scene) this year.

Taking his tour to new markets in 2016, Watson is the "outlaw-country cult favorite" (Country Weekly), continuing to make good on his promise of taking his music directly to his fans. His 15-year career, yielding 12 albums and more than 2,000 live shows, makes him "that rare kind of artist that builds up enough notoriety as an independent entity that the public is forced to take notice" (The Guardian). A confirmed performer at this year's Stagecoach, Country Jam and Cheyenne Frontier Days, Watson is "an 'Underdog' to no one" (Cowboys & Indians).
