Electric Guest Confirm First LP In Five Years – ‘Plural’ – Feb 17 On Downtown/Interscope

Listen To Single “Back For Me” Now At The Line Of Best Fit

Electric Guest – LA-based duo Asa Taccone and Matthew Compton – have confirmed details for the long-awaited follow up to their 2012 debut. ‘Plural’, out February 17th on Downtown/Interscope Records, breaks the group's almost five year silence with their most confident, catchy, fully-realized music to date, featuring behind the scenes contributions from Joanna Newsom, Haim, and Justin Young from The Vaccines.

The Line of Best Fit shared 'Plural' highlight "Back For Me" this morning, calling it "an endlessly catchy trip through vintage pop and R&B vibes that sees Electric Guest at the top of their game….it’s addictive, brilliantly bizarre in places, and remarkably upbeat." Listen here and feel free to post: http://bit.ly/2j56ugd

Recorded in LA, 'Plural' infuses Electric Guest's off-kilter blend of electronic, pop and R&B with an even more adventurous spirit than on 2012's 'Mondo.' Written during a period of self-reflection, 'Plural' embraces Taccone and Compton's original instincts, forgoing detailed arrangements and falsettos in favor of a back-to-basics approach – strong, natural vocals, intuitive musical instinct, and unbridled inspiration. The result is a sonic mélange that sounds as if it’s from both the past and future, layering everything from 80s synths to iPhone drum machines to Latin and Caribbean percussion.

The band shared another album highlight "Dear To Me" late last year - that track scored nods everywhere from Fader, Stereogum, Billboard + more, also coming in as KCRW’s top played song. Watch the music video here, featuring the Haim sisters (who also sing backing vocals), and Andy Samberg: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1AmkMuB0pA

'Mondo' was co-produced by Danger Mouse, and earned them their first TV performances on Conan, Letterman, and Fallon. Rolling Stone called it a "Beck-ian journey full of hooky neon jams that ponder fame's fraught highway and the emptiness of modern life," and they've had songs featured on 'Girls,' 'Suits,' 'Teen Wolf' + more.
