PROVOCATIVE NEO-LITURGICAL PIECE IS "HAVING A MOMENT" (BOSTON GLOBE) + OUT NOW ON PARMA RECORDINGS/NAVONA RECORDS

Composer Gregory W. Brown’s classical piece ‘Missa Charles Darwin’ is “having a moment,” according to the Boston Globe.  The composition plays a role in the plot of the just-released thriller ‘Origin’ written by Gregory’s brother, multimillion-selling author Dan Brown. The New York Times also just ran a feature on Gregory and his work, calling it “bracing…the piece may sound like Renaissance polyphony, but its score also nods to modern science.”

‘Missa Charles Darwin’ was just released as a remastered special edition deluxe package on PARMA Recordings/Navona Records, a select number of which include a limited edition photograph hand signed by the composer and author.

Read the full New York Times feature here, which quotes Dan Brown as crediting ‘Missa Charles Darwin’ for “helping spark the earliest notions of [‘Origin’]”: http://nyti.ms/2y4zga2

Like the book that features it, ‘Missa Charles Darwin’ embodies a sense of history, discovery, and adventure. It takes the form of a Catholic Mass but swaps out the traditional Latin for texts written by Charles Darwin. In doing so, it brilliantly interrogates the relationship between science and religion. In a book series that thrives on solving historical clues with real-world impact, ‘Missa Charles Darwin’’s fascinating scientific backstory fits right in.

The special edition deluxe packages of ‘Missa Charles Darwin’ include an all-new remastering of ‘Missa Charles Darwin’ (recorded by the GRAMMY-nominated New York Polyphony) as well as liner notes, biographies, and excerpts from the Darwin texts featured in the music.
