The Kurland Agency & Powerline Entertainment Sign Grammy-Nominated Bassist Nathan East

(New York, NY): The Kurland Agency, home to Chick Corea, Wynton Marsalis, The Soul Rebels and Powerline Entertainment, home to Ringo Starr and His All-Starr Band, Edgar Winter; Eric Burdon; Linda Eder; and Tom Wopat have announced their signing of Grammy-nominated bassist Nathan East to their rosters.

Nathan will team up with industry veterans Dave Hart and Ted Kurland, bringing their years of expertise to the team.

"Nathan East has proven himself to be the ultimate bass player, says Dave Hart. "His history; his recent stints with Eric Clapton, Phil Collins, Chick Corea, fourPlay and Toto, among many others, attest to that. Now he gets to be his own man, both live and on his Yamaha recordings. Quite simply, he delivers. It's an absolute pleasure to work with Nathan."

"We are thrilled to be working with Nathan East. He’s a virtuoso player and a great guy to boot, says Jack Randall, President of The Kurland Agency. We are excited to work with him & Dave Hart on building Nathan as a star in his own right, something that is long overdue."

Nathan East's new album 'Reverence,' released via Yamaha Entertainment Group, debuted at No. 1 on both the Jazz Albums and Contemporary Jazz Albums Billboard charts. It follows the "genre-crossing footsteps" of Nathan's eponymous Grammy-nominated debut album, which also debuted at No. 1. The album features collaborations with Phil Collins, Eric Clapton, Yolanda Adams, Ruben Studdard, Nikki Yanofsky, and Chick Corea.

About The Kurland Agency:

The Kurland Agency was founded by Ted Kurland in 1975 in Boston. At the time, he was a recent graduate from Brandeis University with a major in Economics. After Kurland graduated, he first worked for a small Boston talent agency, an invaluable experience that launched his career into the talent booking business. With two partners, he later started All American Talent, an agency that booked primarily blues artists such as Muddy Waters, Willie Dixon, and George Thorogood, among others. All American Talent turned into Ted Kurland Associates (now The Kurland Agency) and the agency's emphasis shifted to booking jazz performers. Eminent jazz vibraphonist Gary Burton was the first artist to become a client of the new company. Soon after, other major performers such as Pat Metheny, Keith Jarrett, Chick Corea, Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins, Bill Evans, Roy Haynes, Milt Jackson, Charles Mingus, Isaac Hayes, and many other celebrated jazz musicians including Wynton Marsalis joined the growing family of artists represented by the agency. Although TKA remains well-known for representation of major jazz artists, they now focus on prominent performers from all fields such as blues, world and pop music. As the staff of The Kurland Agency celebrates over 40 years of service, they are proud of their growth and success in the entertainment business.
