New England Summers, Romanticism, and Oysters Inspire Vermont's Modern Bard

In the tradition of his family's rich literary history (with ancestors ranging from John Gower, poet and friend of Chaucer and Richard II, to Civil War-era songwriters), Vermonter Henry Jamison paints another vivid love scene with his newest single "Sunlit Juice" from his forthcoming debut LP 'The Wilds (out October 27 on Akira Records).

Jamison synthesizes the observational literary bend of his forbears with a distinctly modern, millennial brand of Romanticism and philosophy. His new song illustrates the back and forth of two lovers and their relationships to alcohol, with comparisons to Hermes and Aphrodite swirling through a sun-drenched summer of oysters, grapefruit juice and truck beds.

"Henry Jamison’s anecdotal songs are written like the Great American Novel," says Billboard. "["Sunlit Juice"] radiates the warmth of a sunrise over a Northeastern town captured by the endearing sound of Jamison’s gentle voice and its organic Americana sound," and "unfolds like a grand story through a play on words and allusions."

Jamison is a solitary artist who writes, records, and arranges everything himself, including all of the album's string arrangements, and 'The Wilds' is a pure reflection of the world through his eyes. An impressionistic record fuelled by richly colored anecdotes and imagery, Jamison is central as both an omniscient storyteller and as a character himself. Songs like titular "The Wilds" possess a hazy, New England quality as he embraces the wilderness of love and romance. "The Jacket" is both visual and visceral, with a gentle electronic pulse, gorgeous strings and Jamison's acoustic guitar picking.

After tours with Big Thief, Lady Lamb and Tall Heights, Jamison brings his dually ornate-yet-sparse sound, and contemporary philosophy to 12 North American dates this fall, full itinerary below.
