Peppina Announces EP 'Spark' Out In 2017 via Honey Rose Records

Show at Brooklyn's Knitting Factory Confirmed for Thursday, February 9th

(New York, NY): On her upcoming EP 'Spark,' 21-year-old Finnish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Peppina seamlessly moves from light to darkness, and from levity to reflection with the ease of a veteran performer. Produced by Charles Newman (The Magnetic Fields) and brimming with complex arrangements, folk-pop spunk, and Peppina's wise-beyond-her-years lyrics, 'Spark' is a moving statement from this young talent.

'Spark' will be available in 2017 via Honey Rose Records.

"Moments" is an effortlessly catchy pop anthem where shining piano and horn arrangements support Peppina's lyrics about the strength drawn from the positive relationships in our lives. "Against The Grain" is inspired by a documentary about boundary-breaking female comic book writers. A visual artist herself, Peppina counts comics, manga, and realist life drawing among her chosen forms. In the emotional track, "Fire,"  Peppina opens up about her struggle with anxiety and depression as she sings "The pain is loud, but the fight is louder" with characteristic optimism.

Hailing from Helsinki, Finland, Peppina was trained as a classical flutist before picking up piano, guitar, and ukulele. She developed a talent for songwriting with influences ranging from Regina Spektor and Feist to Stevie Wonder and David Bowie. While still in high school, Peppina discovered hitRECord, a collaborative forum for artists, and uploaded her music to the site. Her songs quickly gained popularity and the attention of hitRECord's founder, Joseph Gordon-Levitt., who then invited Peppina to perform in Los Angeles as part of the hitRECord television special. Soon after Peppina released her EP 'Follow Your Gravity,' which PopDose called "lush," "embracing," and "memorable."

Peppina has performed at Sundance Film Festival for the past three years and was dubbed the "Queen of Sundance." She will be returning to the festival to showcase new music performing at HoneyRose Records and Rooftop Films premiere of 'Menashe.'

Pancakes and Whiskey describes Peppina's live show as "bounding with playfulness, whimsy and wanderlust," and PopDust dubbed her an "eclectic siren" who "reconstructs the modern perspective with a penchant for realism and authenticity."

She will be playing Brooklyn's Knitting Factory on Thursday, February 9th with additional tour dates to follow.
