(New York, NY): Brooklyn Bowl and Garcia's at The Capitol Theatre have announced the Fall 2017 season of The Rock and Roll Playhouse's "Rock & Roll For Kids," a family concert series on Saturdays and Sundays. The eighth season will include the music of Prince, The Beatles, Tom Petty, The Ramones, Bob Marley, David Bowie, music from Hamilton the Broadway musical & more.

The Rock and Roll Playhouse, a weekly children's-music-workshop series hosted at Brooklyn Bowl and Garcia's at The Capitol Theatre, creates "a space within which they can discover new comfort zones with and around music" (WHERE IN New York). Created by entrepreneur and owner of The Capitol Theatre and Brooklyn Bowl, Peter Shapiro, and Amy Striem, a certified Early Childhood and Elementary teacher, The Rock and Roll Playhouse uses music to educate children and explore their creativity.

The idea for The Playhouse came to Shapiro, a parent of two young children, after he discovered first-hand a lack of regular programming in New York City that combined his passion for live music and his family. He collaborated with Striem, then an administrator at his daughter's nursery school, to help fill this void that they felt many other parents also shared. Using the songs created by the most iconic musicians in rock history, The Rock and Roll Playhouse offers its core audience of three to eight year-olds games, movement, and stories and an opportunity to rock out. The Rock and Roll Playhouse is an early and often first introduction to a child's lifelong journey with live music and rock and roll.

The New York Observer raves that the family-friendly series is, "quite literally fun for all ages."

About Brooklyn Bowl:

Brooklyn Bowl is the ultimate night out, with its groundbreaking integration of premiere music, 16 lanes of bowling, a bar featuring locally crafted beers, and food by the acclaimed Blue Ribbon restaurant group. Located in the beautiful, 19th-century Hecla Iron Works building, the venue -- aka "rock and roll heaven" (Village Voice) -- boasts a sound system and amenities that "no other local rock club can offer" (The New York Times).

Wearing its homegrown values on its sleeve, Brooklyn Bowl is as committed to locally made products -- serving award-winning beer from the adjacent Brooklyn Brewery -- as it is to environmental sustainability -- it's the first L.E.E.D.-certified bowling alley in the world. And the food? "Epic," says Eater. In other words, Brooklyn Bowl's unprecedented combination of top-flight music, bowling, beer and food is "like nailing a spare on a four-ten split" (The New Yorker).

About Garcia's at The Capitol Theatre:

In partnership with the family of Jerry Garcia, The Capitol Theatre christened it's adjoining venue as Garcia's in honor of the late Grateful Dead guitarist and singer, Jerry Garcia, who counted the Port Chester, NY rock palace among his favorite venues in the country. The exclusive club features craft beers, wine and spirits by local producers. With a focus on community and a taste for musical exploration, Garcia's hosts local and national bands weekly.

About The Capitol Theatre:

Designed by celebrated architect Thomas Lamb in 1926 and listed in The National Register of Historic Places, the Capitol is located 30 miles from NYC, accessible by I-95 and only one block from the Port Chester Metro North train station. The 2,000-capacity theater, known as “the original rock palace,’ showcased rock legends such as Black Sabbath, Chuck Berry, David Bowie, Derek and the Dominos, Janis Joplin, Pink Floyd, and The Rolling Stones. Jerry Garcia once called it his favorite venue, claiming “See, there’s only two theaters, man… that are set up pretty groovy all around for music and for smooth stage changes, good lighting and all that – the Fillmore and The Capitol Theatre. And those are the only two in the whole country.”

In 2012, the Capitol Theatre underwent a transformative renovation under the guidance of entrepreneur Peter Shapiro (Brooklyn Bowl, Lockn' Festival, the "Fare Thee Well" Grateful Dead 50th Anniversary stadium shows, music magazine Relix, FANS). Since then, The Capitol has hosted many of music’s most prominent performers including Bob Dylan, Phil Lesh, Ringo Starr, Ryan Adams, Skrillex, Snoop Dogg, The Strokes, Tom Petty, Willie Nelson, and many more. The Capitol has also welcomed comedians likeKevin Hart and Amy Schumer. The New York Times raves: “A rock theater that looks and sounds as good as the Capitol is something to celebrate." Billboard agrees: “The lavishly decorated theater -- filled with mirrors, chandeliers and painstakingly restored detail -- looks absolutely stunning, and sounds even better."
