On September 12 at 9am Pacific, Esperanza Spalding will enter a recording studio and stay there for 77 hours straight while she composes and then records her new album ‘Exposure,’ with every second live-streamed on Facebook. Today, she is announcing that Andrew Bird, Robert Glasper, and Lalah Hathaway will all make appearances during ‘Exposure,' lending their special talents to this unpredictable creative event. The three guests will visit the studio and, for a select time, join Esperanza in the development and recording of some of her ‘Exposure’ songs.
Last week, Esperanza spent an hour jamming with renowned architect Frank Gehry – she with her bass, he with his pencil. This celebration of spontaneous creativity was broadcast live on Facebook, and the resulting creations are being auctioned off for charity on Charitybuzz. Bid here: http://bit.ly/2wKOkZC
In the lead-up to ‘Exposure,’ Esperanza has also appeared on Viceland’s popular late-night talk show Desus & Mero (http://bit.ly/2iudg2r), been profiled in the NY Times (http://nyti.ms/2iGB17D), been interviewed by Salon (http://bit.ly/2vWpkOt) and Time (http://ti.me/2j7GmEX), and more.
After ‘Exposure’ is created and recorded, it will be rendered on limited edition CD and vinyl via Concord Records – just 7,777 copies in total.
