August 7, 2026: Today, Sierra Ferrell delivers another dose of magic with the release of "Trying to Love You." The song marks the 4x GRAMMY®-winner's first new single of 2026, and first original solo track produced by Gabriel Kelley. Written by Sierra Ferrell, and previewed along recent stops of her current Heavy Petal Tour, "Trying to Love You" is the story of a homebound journey filled with fine lines, lingering questions and memories of someone slipping through her hands. August 7, 2026 // Twenty albums into a career built on deep groove and a saxophone voice all his own, Boney James is still finding new ground. Today, the four-time GRAMMY nominee and multi-platinum saxophonist, composer and producer announces new album A Simple Man, arriving October 2 via Concord Records, alongside the new single and official music video “I Belong To You” featuring Ledisi. Vinyl editions of the album will be available November 6.

A warm, contemporary R&B duet, “I Belong To You” reunites James and Ledisi more than two decades after they first appeared together on the Luther Vandross tribute album Forever, For Always, For Luther. Co-written by James and Ledisi with BeatsMadeByFresh and Rex Rideout, the song pairs her commanding vocal with the expressive tenor playing that has made James one of instrumental music’s most recognizable voices. Its intimate video keeps the focus on that exchange, moving between the two artists against a dark, minimalist backdrop.

Produced by James, A Simple Man is a soulful collection shaped by his growing desire for clarity. The title began with a song, then became a reflection of how he now approaches both his work and his life: removing distraction so that the essential elements can come through more clearly. “I don’t need a lot of things to make me happy,” says James. “As I’ve gotten older, I’ve wanted to drop the extraneous things. The simple life is something I crave, and that spirit found its way into this album. A Simple Man is about getting closer to what feels essential, both in the music and in my life.”

That focus does not make the record restrained. Instead, it gives James room to move freely across the musical language he has spent decades developing, with R&B feeling at its center and jazz tradition always within reach. The album opens with “Dreams,” featuring a rare flute performance from James. “Morocco” brings him together with acclaimed trumpeter Marquis Hill for a layered meeting of live instrumentation and electronic texture. “The Midnight Sun” grew from a spontaneous soundcheck jam that James captured on his phone before rebuilding it in the studio.

Elsewhere, “The Wire” draws from the mood of 1970s soul soundtracks. Legendary guitarist Larry Carlton joins James on the Steely Dan-influenced “Storybook,” while Duke Ellington’s “In a Sentimental Mood” is reimagined over a supple, D’Angelo-inspired groove. The hopeful “Things Are Looking Up” and the nature-minded closing track “Birdsong” give the album a sense of forward motion.

James’ path to this point began on the road. After turning professional at 19, he spent years as a sideman, first touring with Morris Day before working with The Isley Brothers, Teena Marie, Randy Crawford, Ray Parker Jr., Sheena Easton and Bobby Caldwell. Between gigs, he made demos and developed a musical identity of his own, eventually stepping forward with his 1992 debut, Trust. The decades since have brought constant touring and an expansive run of collaborations, with James recording alongside artists including George Benson, Al Jarreau, George Duke, Faith Evans, Bilal, Lalah Hathaway, Raheem DeVaughn and October London. Those relationships reflect the breadth of his sound, as well as the deep foundation in R&B that has shaped his approach from the beginning.

That long road has produced a level of longevity few artists reach. James’ catalog now spans 20 studio albums and has generated more than two billion on-demand streams in the United States, along with four million U.S. album equivalents. His honors include four GRAMMY nominations, three NAACP Image Award nominations, four RIAA Gold-certified records and a Soul Train Award. In 2024, he became the first artist to score 20 No. 1 singles on the Billboard Smooth Jazz chart. Recent vocal collaborations have also extended his reach at Adult R&B radio, where he has earned two Top 10 hits.

The sweeping performance moves from surrender into freedom, bringing together two beloved worship songs through the spontaneity and vocal power at the heart of the forthcoming album.

Recorded before a live audience, TASHA Unscripted brings Cobbs Leonard back to the setting where many of the most defining moments of her career have taken shape. Rather than simply recreating familiar songs, the album lets them open into new arrangements while preserving the audience response and unexpected turns that could only happen in the room. The evening brought together beloved selections from Cobbs Leonard’s catalog with brand-new music and appearances from Mickey Guyton, Jonathan McReynolds, Karen Clark Sheard, Kierra Sheard-Kelly, William Murphy, Israel Houghton and more. New York, NY - Singer, actress and filmmaker Daniella Rabbani will release Klezmerette, a vibrant new album that brings the humor, sensuality, sorrow and sonic bravado of Yiddish music into the present, on October 16.

Produced by GRAMMY winner Joanie Leeds and Klezmer virtuoso and clarinetist Michael Winograd, Klezmerette’s ten Yiddish standards travel through boisterous dance music, smoky cabaret, folk ballads and devastating tango, revealing the threads connecting Klezmer to Broadway, jazz and Roma traditions. Both a celebration of Jewish music in all its diversity and a deeply personal reckoning with heritage and grief, Klezmerette treats tradition not as something frozen in time, but as a living art form that continues to move, transform and make room for joy. After two decades immersed in Yiddish performance, Daniella began the project to challenge the idea that the language and its music belong to the past – and, amid rising antisemitism, to create something rooted not only in remembrance, but in Jewish pride and joy.

Klezmerette’s boisterous first single, “Ketzele Broygez (Lover’s Tiff),” is out today alongside a video celebrating “the music of New York.” The playful song centers on yikhes – where someone comes from and what makes them who they are – as a woman recounts her imperfect, colorful family history to a persistent suitor. Filmed on location, the video follows Daniella from a Bushwick bodega to dancing on the subway, playing with her band and staging a jubilant mini-concert in Washington Square Park. Like the woman in the original song, Daniella’s New York is fun, silly, raw and unmistakably itself.

Lyrically, Klezmerette moves between flirtation, family, longing, survival and celebration. “Der Nayer Sher (New Dance Tune)” calls listeners onto the dance floor, while “A Yiddishe Mama (A Jewish Mom)” pairs Yiddish and English with sensual horns that evoke a Vaudeville nightclub. Across all ten songs, Daniella invites listeners into a musical tradition that needs no translation to be felt: music made to help people remember, mourn, laugh, dance and keep moving.

At the album’s emotional center is “Friling (Springtime),” written by Shmerke Kaczerginski in 1943 in the Vilna ghetto following the death of his wife. It’s a tension – a world bursting back into life while grief stands still – that took on new meaning for Daniella when her older sister Ariana died suddenly during the making of Klezmerette. Of recording the album’s vocals, Daniella said: “I really felt her in the booth with me. I sang the way she heard me. Not the way I heard myself.”

That experience with loss deepened Daniella’s lifelong fascination with how songs and stories carry people forward. Born in NYC’s West side and raised Modern Orthodox between the City and Great Neck, Long Island, she grew up with a combination of her father’s Persian Jewish heritage and her mother’s Ashkenazi history. Both of her maternal grandparents survived the Holocaust, and her grandfather spoke primarily Yiddish. When Daniella later learned the language herself, it felt like learning “something my soul had remembered.”

After studying at NYU’s Stella Adler Studio of Acting, Daniella was encouraged by Adler’s grandson Tom Oppenheim to carry forward the legacy of Yiddish theater after he told her that she “reminded him of his family.” She has since performed in Yiddish for more than 20 years on stages including Jazz at Lincoln Center, Town Hall and the State Jewish Theaters in Warsaw, Łódź and Bucharest. Her screen work includes Ocean’s 8 – whose opening scene opposite Sandra Bullock she filmed while eight months pregnant – Scenes from a Marriage, and The Americans. A Brooklyn-based mom of two, she also hosts the podcast Mom Curious and directed the award-winning short film OMA, inspired by her maternal grandmother.

To debut her renditions of the songs on Klezmerette, Daniella will perform at New York Sings Yiddish at Central Park SummerStage on September 17, followed by an album-release concert at The Cutting Room on October 15.

Los Angeles – Seeker Music, the creator-led music rights, publishing and record company led by award-winning songwriter and creative executive Evan Bogart, is relaunching its record label imprint music is fun as the industry’s first ever label built entirely around catalog flips. Its inaugural release, “Vacation” by Flo Rida featuring Sage the Gemini, is out today. The newly reimagined music is fun turns Seeker’s catalog – valued at more than $400 million and spanning the songs of Joan Jett, Christopher Cross, Run the Jewels, Jay Sean, Jon Bellion, and more – into a proactive engine for new music. The label will bring together contemporary artists, songwriters and producers to sample, interpolate, remix and reinvent songs across the portfolio, with Seeker identifying concepts, assembling collaborators and releasing the resulting music from start to finish.

“Vacation” is the blueprint. Earlier this year, Seeker VP of A&R Andrew Grant flew to Nashville for a writing camp where he brought together Seeker-signed songwriter Kendall Goodman and producer Carlo Colasacco for a session specifically focused on flipping The Go-Go’s hit. Having already discussed the idea with Flo Rida, Grant sent him the resulting track; Flo Rida and Sage the Gemini responded by immediately flying to Los Angeles to finish and record it at Seeker’s studios in Frogtown.

Built around The Go-Go track’s original chorus, Flo’s rapping, and a tropical, song-of-the-summer vibe, “Vacation” connects one of the defining pop songs of the early ’80s with two artists whose music has generated billions of streams and helped shape modern pop and hip-hop. It also reflects one of Seeker’s key strengths: a catalog spanning enduring classics and contemporary hits, combined with the creative relationships needed to bring those worlds together.

Bogart said: “At Seeker, we believe celebrating great music isn't just about preserving legacy. It's about extending it by introducing the songs we love to new generations. Flo Rida said “Andrew, one of my A&Rs I’ve worked with for years had mentioned working on flipping some songs, he brought me a few ideas, and Vacation by The Go-Go’s was one of the ideas. The relationships the Seeker team has built across the industry are what allow us to turn a song like "Vacation" from an idea into a record this quickly, pair it with the perfect artists, and help it connect in a whole new way.”

The relaunch also marks the next phase of Seeker’s Samplémoose program, which has given artists, songwriters and producers access to the company’s catalog through writing camps, streamlined sample-clearance opportunities and direct creative collaboration. That strategy has already helped Seeker become a leader in catalog reinvention. Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” which interpolates Seeker catalog cut “Tipsy” by J-Kwon, became the biggest song of 2024, PinkPantheress’ massive “Stateside” flips catalog cut “Freak Like Me” by Adina Howard, and more new tracks by the likes of Drake, Pop Smoke, Coco Jones, Latto, Megan The Stallion, Sza and PARTYNEXTDOOR have also flipped songs represented by Seeker. With music is fun, the company will now take a more hands-on role in guiding those moments from the very beginning all the way through release.

The concept builds naturally on Bogart’s own career as a songwriter behind era-defining hits including Beyoncé’s “Halo,” Rihanna’s “SOS” (which famously samples Soft Cell’s “Tainted Love”), and Sean Kingston’s “Take You There.” His, and the entire team’s creative background gives Seeker a rare advantage for a music rights company: the instincts to recognize how an older song can become the foundation for something new, the relationships to bring the right collaborators together, and a creator’s understanding of how that reinvention can honor the original work.

Hold On, I’m Coming (1973) captures the legendary jazz flutist Herbie Mann playing to huge audiences at Yankee Stadium and the Montreux Jazz Festival. Backed by a razor-sharp band, he locks into a heavy R&B groove across the entire set. Standouts include a percussion-driven reading of the Memphis Horns’ “(Gimme Some Of That Good Old) Soul Beat Momma,” while tight, rhythmic covers of hits like “Respect Yourself” bridge the gap between the jazz club and the dance floor.

First/Never Let Her Go (1973/1975) brings together the first two solo albums from Bread’s brilliant mastermind, David Gates. Following his departure from the chart-topping soft-rock group, Gates proved he hadn’t lost his touch for immaculate pop. First shines with the quirky “Soap (I Use The)” and the lush “Suite: Clouds, Rain,” while Never Let Her Go delivers melody-driven gems like the title track—a #3 Adult Contemporary hit—and the easygoing “Playin’ On My Guitar.” Together, these two albums offer a double dose of the pristine arrangements that made Gates a 1970s radio staple.

Miami (1974) stands as a high-water mark for the James Gang’s second era, featuring the blazing guitar work of Tommy Bolin. Produced alongside Tom Dowd, the album leans into a sun-drenched, bluesy hard-rock sound. From the driving sprint of “Cruisin’ Down The Highway” and the funky “Do It” to the soaring “Miami Two-Step,” the album crackles with Bolin’s fiery solos and the band’s skintight rhythms.

Gorilla (1975) finds James Taylor embracing a more relaxed studio sound. Joined by a cast of collaborators—including David Crosby, Graham Nash, and Lowell George—Taylor delivers some of his most upbeat songs, highlighted by his #5 Hot 100 cover of “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved By You)” with then-wife Carly Simon singing harmony. Texas-Via-France Musician's 70+ Date Tour With Alison Krauss & Union Station Rolls On With Stops In Austin, Chicago, Southern California + Three Nights At Nashville's Ryman Auditorium (Sept 18–20)

On his first trip to America, Paris-born musician Theo Lawrence traveled across the South by Greyhound bus - making a pilgrimage to some of music's most hallowed sites, from New Orleans to Nashville. Last month he performed on one of those very same stages for the first time, making his debut at the Grand Ole Opry. Among the songs that Lawrence performed that night was “I Love You, Bartender,” a brand-new original (officially released today) that he penned while on tour with Alison Krauss & Union Station this summer, and recorded with acclaimed producer / multi-instrumentalist Chris Scruggs (Sierra Ferrell, Marty Stuart, Loretta Lynn). “This is a love letter dedicated to the bartender,” explains Lawrence. “The one who will always be there to listen and console when the world has let you down.”

“I Love You, Bartender” is the latest highlight in what’s already been a breakout 2026 for Lawrence, including his national television debut on CBS Saturday Morning and extensive tour dates supporting Krauss, with more shows at legendary venues like Austin’s Moody Theater (Sept 24) and Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium (Sept 18-20) on the horizon. After releasing his first singles for Warner Records / Reprise Records earlier this year - most recently the smoldering noir gem “I Wanna Know What’s Going On” - Lawrence will continue putting out new music in the months to come.

Born in France and based in Austin, Lawrence channels each of his homes with timeless style and soul. “This cigar was created to reflect qualities I admire in Miles’ most enduring work; approachability, sophistication, structure, nuance, expression, restraint, and depth,” said Michael Herklots, co-owner and blender of Ferio Tego. “One does not need to be an expert to love Miles Davis, but experts have spent lifetimes studying his music. This cigar was created with that in mind.  It is approachable and appealing, yet structured and nuanced. Easy for anyone to enjoy, with plenty of depth for the developed palate.”
Herklots, a graduate of Berklee College of Music (’02) with a degree in Drum Set Performance, studied and performed the music of Miles Davis throughout his education and career as a musician. He performed in the Miles Davis Ensemble while at Berklee.

Ferio Tego Milestones takes its name from both the landmark 1958 Miles Davis album and its title track, while also acknowledging the significance of the Centennial celebration and the role cigars often play in celebrating meaningful moments. Ferio Tego Milestones is a 6” x 50 toro-sized cigar produced in Honduras by Agroindustrias. The blend features an Ecuador-grown Connecticut seed wrapper, Honduran binder, and fillers from Honduras, Nicaragua, and the Dominican Republic.

Presented in ten-count boxes featuring the iconic silhouette of Miles Davis prominently on the lid, each box of Ferio Tego Milestones includes one of four commemorative 5” x 7” reproductions of original Miles Davis sketches, presented in an envelope inside the box. Beyond his achievements in music, Davis was also a visual artist whose drawings and paintings reflected the same expressive spirit found throughout his work. Four hundred boxes of each sketch edition were produced. The editions are identified as Sketch One, Sketch Two, Sketch Three, and Sketch Four. Retailers will receive the release in complete four-sketch box sets, made up of one box of each sketch edition.  

Each box also includes a QR code linking to a playlist curated by Herklots, Reservoir, and the Miles Davis Estate, with tracks selected to accompany the experience of enjoying a Ferio Tego cigar.
Ferio Tego Milestones is limited to 1,600 total boxes, with a suggested retail price of $185 per box, excluding applicable taxes. The release is scheduled to begin shipping in Summer 2026.

August 5, 2026: Tommy Lefroy has announced their debut album, The Precariat, due October 23 via Thirty Tigers. Written over six years between itinerant stays in Nashville, Los Angeles, Vancouver, Michigan, and London, The Precariat takes its name from the economic term describing a growing class of people living with increasing instability and uncertainty. Throughout the album, Tommy Lefroy’s Wynter Bethel and Tessa Mouzourakis weave together literary, artistic, and musical influences – from Virginia Woolf, tradwives and suffragettes, to Springsteen’s paradoxical patriotism – balancing sharp cultural observation with warmth and emotional honesty, ultimately offering connection as the antidote to uncertainty.

Co-produced by the band alongside Stephen Sesso, with executive production from Mike Crossey (The 1975, Arctic Monkeys, MUNA), the album offers an unflinching capture of the uncertainty and anxiety permeating our collective psyche, along with the universality of precarity, despite its tendency to isolate.

Released today, "Thief" serves as one of the album's emotional centerpieces. One of the first songs Bethel and Mouzourakis wrote together nearly seven years ago, it reflects on the visceral toll of grief and coming to terms with time spent on a lost cause. The accompanying music video, directed by Burton, finds the band in vignettes of abandoned spaces across the North American plains. Houses reclaimed by mold and moss, decaying ephemera, and relics of obsolete technology frame the band as they sing “I just wanna feel / shiny and new.”

"The title refers to things lost along the way, how they sometimes feel taken, by time, or by people who've left us. The chorus came to Wynter in a parking lot, while driving for Postmates in Nashville. The song always felt special to us, like a thesis of how we felt in our early twenties," says the band. "We held on to this song for years knowing we wanted it to be on our first album, and the feelings the song expresses, of perpetual strife and inadequacy, felt more relevant than ever in the context of The Precariat."

Tommy Lefroy (named after Thomas Langlois Lefroy, Jane Austen's alleged inspiration for Mr. Darcy), first previewed the album with “Slush Puppy,” a sharp-edged, satirical summer anthem that pairs euphoric guitars with existential dread. Tuesday, August 4 (Bentonville, AR) - Today, the Momentary unveiled the day-by-day lineups for Momentous 2026, its annual two-day electronic music and arts festival returning November 6-7. Now in its fourth year, the festival brings together internationally acclaimed electronic artists and rising talent for a weekend celebrating music and culture. Single day tickets are now on sale.

On Friday, November 6, the festival kicks off inside the Momentary as music takes over the state-of-the-art RØDE House and transforms the museum's galleries into electrifying dance floors.

The lineup features The Faint, Hiroko Yamamura, Cut Copy (DJ Set), J.Worra, and VNSSA, alongside local artists St. Bends, Starflyer, Messy Sparkles, Anoc, and KSoul. 

On Saturday, November 7, Momentous expands outdoors to the Momentary’s iconic Green, adding an open-air stage for an evening headlined by Grammy-nominated duo SOFI TUKKER. The lineup also includes Channel Tres (DJ Set), Sextile, X-Coast, Annie-Claude Deschênes, Carlitos, and Trustory. The night concludes with an after-party by Lucino and ANTIMATTER, and a special after-party by Channel Tres available to premium ticketholders. This year’s lineup was curated in partnership with Arkansas-based promoters On the Map and Solsets.

Rapidly becoming one of Arkansas's most beloved music festivals, Momentous blends bass, house, and techno into an immersive weekend celebrating sound, art, and flavor, transforming Bentonville into a playground of underground culture. This year, the festival expands its sonic scope with the addition of bands incorporating electronic elements, creating its most dynamic and diverse lineup yet.

The festival reflects the Momentary's continued investment in electronic music programming. Alongside Momentous, the venue's 2026 outdoor music series features performances by Chris Lake and Zedd, building on a growing legacy that has welcomed EDM icons including deadmau5, Kaskade, and more.

Single-day tickets for Friday are $60 for the public and $48 for Momentary members. Single day tickets for Saturday are $95 for the public and $76 for the Momentary members. General admission two-day passes for Momentous are $150 for the public, $132 for Momentary members, and $100 for students. Premium two-day passes are $250 which will include general admission amenities as well as access to Tower Bar VIP Lounge (Friday/Saturday), front row pit access (Saturday), an exclusive premium after party with Channel Tres (Saturday), and priority lines during the festival.

August 4, 2026 -- Belongó is a New York City-based non-profit cultural institution founded by pianist/composer and GRAMMY Award-winner Arturo O’Farrill in 2007 that is dedicated to performing, teaching, and preserving the music of the Americas rooted in African and Indigenous traditions through jazz. While its state-of-the-art cultural hub and future home, Casa Belongó, is built in East Harlem, Belongócontinues to lead and inspire as it provides free music education to thousands of NYC public school children, an educational residency for incarcerated youth at Riker’s Island, and a pre-professional youth orchestra for aspiring musicians known as the Fat Cats. Belongó is also widely celebrated for programming a remarkable slate of world-class concerts and cultural events each year.

Today Belongó announced its new season of concerts and impactful community programming, including a robust schedule of events from August into January of 2027 at festivals, beloved cultural centers, and venue stages nationwide. A number of New York City events feature O’Farrill and the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra (ALJO), including a weekly residency at the new jazz club The Pocket, Brooklyn’s BRIC Jazz Festival in October, and Jazz at Lincoln Center in January. O’Farrill will also bring the cultural legacy and joy of Afro Latin jazz music to California as the first-ever Artist-in-Residence at Segerstrom Arts Center in Costa Mesa.

Weekly Live Jazz at The Pocket

Belongó presents Arturo O'Farrill & the ALJO’s ongoing residency at The Pocket, New York City’s newest jazz club in Times Square. The celebrated orchestra performs from their deep repertoire of Afro Latin jazz from across the Americas every Tuesday, with sets at 7 and 9PM.  ALJO’s residency is now in its 29th year, and has become a key part of the cultural fabric of the city. Tickets here. 

Afro Latin Jazz Music Exploration at Harlem Library 

Monthly - New York, NY

Belongó presents Afro Latin Jazz Music Exploration, a free, monthly educational series for school-age children (ages 6–12) at the Harlem Library. Held one Saturday each month from 12–1 PM, the interactive program offers live music, hands-on participation, and joyful opportunities to explore the rhythms, instruments, and stories of Afro Latin jazz. The series continues on August 29, with additional sessions on September 26, October 24, November 21 and December 19. More info here.

Belongó presents O'Farrill & ALJO with acclaimed Taiwanese-born bassist Vincent Hsu at Flushing Town Hall. Led by O'Farrill, the GRAMMY Award-winning orchestra joins Hsu—leader of the Soy La Ley Afro Cuban Jazz Band—for an evening exploring the connections between Afro Cuban, jazz, and Taiwanese musical traditions through original compositions and improvisation. Tickets here.

O’Farrill and ALJO pay tribute to the life and music of Jimmy Garrison, in celebration of John Coltrane’s centennial. Presented by Belongó and ShapeShifter Plus, this special evening will feature new arrangements, adaptations, and collaborations as the orchestra is joined by special guests Ravi Coltrane, Marcus Gilmore, and Matt Garrison. Arturo O'Farrill Trio at Spanos Theatre 

September 17 - San Luis Obispo, CA

O'Farrill brings his trio to San Luis Obispo, presented by the Performing Arts Center San Luis Obispo and Cal Poly Arts, for an intimate evening on California's Central Coast with one of the defining voices in Afro Latin jazz. The trio format offers audiences a closer look at O'Farrill's original compositions, improvisation, and collaborative musicianship. Tickets here.

Belongó presents O'Farrill & ALJO at Segerstrom Center for the Arts as O'Farrill begins his inaugural season as the first Artist-in-Residence. Part of the ¡VIVA! O'Farrill brings his quintet to Blues Alley, the nation's oldest continuing jazz supper club, for four sets across two nights in Georgetown. Belongó and World Music Institute present Cape Verdean vocalist Lucibela for one night only at Joe's Pub. Known for her expressive interpretations of morna and coladeira, Lucibela performs music from her acclaimed album Moda Antiga, celebrating the rich musical traditions of Cabo Verde while bringing her own contemporary voice to the repertoire. This evening reflects Belongó's belief that the music of the Americas is inseparable from the wider African diaspora, the same currents running from West Africa through the islands to the stages of New York. Tickets here.
