The musician and lifelong fisherman plays a three-week hometown residency revolving around his debut LP, 'Countries' (1/19 via Fantasy Records), with special guests to be announced day-of-show each week. Casey Abrams – Hotel Café (LA, CA)


The acclaimed bassist and vocalist leads his nine-piece Funk Orchestra through FunkHaus jams happening every Friday this month. Abrams will release an album of originals and covers on Chesky Records early this year. The set will showcase the frenetic energy of Abrams’ band and his unique creativity as a songwriter and performer.

The Academic/ ‘Tales From The Backseat’/ Downtown Records


Less than two years ago, this young four-piece had never played outside their native Ireland. Now after opening for The Strokes, Pixies and Noel Gallagher, this fast-rising act breaks stateside with their debut LP, a wise-beyond-their-years album influenced by early Arctic Monkeys, American Football, sleek early Motown production and more.

Andrea Gibson/ ‘HEY GALAXY’/ Tender Loving Empire


One of the most celebrated poets in their field and winner of the first-ever Woman of the World Poetry Slam takes on multiple forms of adversity on their new LP. Gibson’s LP is a vivid spoken word meditation on social justice, love, heartbreak, queerness, trauma, mental illness and healing and tells a story of modern times both beautiful and painfully visceral.

Laila Biali – Rockwood Stage 3 (NYC)


One of Canada’s foremost jazz pianist/vocalists, she and her band play from her new self-titled, self-produced LP out January 26th. Biali has toured with Sting, Chris Botti, Suzanne Vega and more, and her new album will feature her oft-requested fan-favorite cover of Coldplay’s “Yellow."

After selling out Rockwood earlier this year, the critically acclaimed string quartet returns to the Lower East Side for a two-night stand. Hailey Knox – Bootleg Theatre (LA, CA)


The New York Times found this Gen-Z master of the guitar-and-loop pedal “poised to become the live-streaming world’s first crossover music star.” Her debut EP, A Little Awkward (S-Curve), earned her praised from NBC’s Today Show, Billboard and People Magazine, who called her “the next music sensation.” Knox performs new music before joining Ruth B on tour later this year.

Van William/ ‘Countries’/ Fantasy Records


When his father retired from salmon fishing on Kodiak Island, AK, the musician and lifelong fisherman reached a crossroads. William’s debut LP is the sound of his renewed sense of purpose, a new musical direction that sounds like “American Heartache”: music that stirs forgotten memories and feels eternal and fresh, pulling the past into the present as a way of navigating loss. Belle Adair/ ‘Tuscumbia’/ Single Lock Records


This ain’t your dad’s Muscle Shoals music. The local four-piece has teamed up with longtime Wilco collaborator Tom Schick to create a sound inspired by their hometown’s musical legacy but unlike anything that’s come from the area before. Recorded at the hallowed FAME Studios and mixed at The Loft in Chicago, the new Muscle Shoals sound is chiming guitars, meditative lyrics and a breezy, blissed-out feel.

The Muscle Shoals four-piece plays the electric stage at a two-day showcase for their Single Lock Records (co-run between the band members and John Paul White) days after the release of their new album Tuscumbia, out 1/19. The award-winning spoken-word artist, one of the most celebrated poets in their field, presents their HEY GALAXY Tour, featuring solo readings and musical accompaniment from new album HEY GALAXY (1/12 via Tender Loving Empire). Take Me To The River – John L. Tishman Auditorium (NYC)


Four generations of musicians come together for a one-night-only special event during GRAMMY Week 2018. Students and faculty from The New School’s College of Performing Arts and Renaissance Youth Center perform with legendary artists and GRAMMY winners William Bell and Bobby Rush. Bell and Rush are currently a part of the Take Me To The River tour, a live performance tribute to the award-winning documentary following the intergenerational, cross-cultural and gender inclusive musical influence of Memphis.

Annie Clark has extended her international Fear The Future Tour into 2018, returning to LA after premiering new album MASSEDUCTION (10/13 via Loma Vista Recordings) at the Red Bull Music Academy Festival. The GRAMMY-winning artist’s latest release has received high praise from Rolling Stone, The New York Times, Pitchfork, Nylon, and BuzzFeed, which called it “the best thing she's ever done and there are no bad St. Vincent records.”

Justin Moore – Microsoft Theatre (LA, CA)


The country radio hitmaker behind seven No. 1s including “Somebody Else Will” and “You Look Like I Need A Drink,” and current radio single “Kinda Don’t Care,” highlights music from his latest LP, Kinda Don’t Care (Valory Music Co.), on his Hell on a Highway Tour. Anna & Elizabeth – Rockwood Stage 3 (NYC)


The pioneering avant-garde folk duo performs new music from their upcoming Smithsonian Folkways debut, The Invisible Comes to Us, out 3/30. The new record is influenced by Laurie Anderson, the poetry readings of Patti Smith, chopped storytelling inspired by NPR's Radiolab, Irish folk heroes Paul Brady and Andy Irvine, Dublin group Lankum and the conceptual work of Meredith Monk and Fluxus movement composers.

Starset – Highline Ballroom (NYC) – 1/31


The visionary sci-fi, multi-media rock band from Columbus, OH hits the road for their biggest North American headlining tour yet. The band’s cinematic and crazy live show (there are astronauts on stage) draws inspiration from front man Dustin Bates' background in electrical engineering and his desire to promote science through music. The band’s latest release, Vessels, debuted at #11 on Billboard’s Top 200 Chart and #3 on the Rock Chart, and they recently surpassed one billion views on YouTube.
