Aarón Sánchez Joins WhyHunger as Chef Ambassador
WhyHunger Today Announces That Aarón Sánchez Will Be Its First Official Chef Ambassador.
In his new role, Sánchez — America's premier Latin chef and star of Food Network's hit series "Chopped" — will help lead events throughout the year to help raise awareness and funds for WhyHunger. The nonprofit combats the root causes of hunger and poverty through community-based solutions, including its National Hunger Hotline (1-866-3-HUNGRY), which helps veterans, seniors, families and working people find food in their neighborhoods as well as government programs like SNAP.
As Chef Ambassador, Sánchez joins the dozens of celebrity ambassadors in WhyHunger's Artists Against Hunger & Poverty, its group of high-profile supporters and fundraisers. AAH&P was founded by Bruce Springsteen and is supported by artists like Michael McDonald, Chicago, Earth Wind & Fire, Joss Stone, Darryl McDaniels, Jackson Browne, O.A.R, Tom Chapin and Jen Chapin.

Approximately 50 million Americans, including 17 million children, struggle to have enough food to eat. For one out of six Americans, including one out of four children, hunger is a reality. "I'm really excited to be partnering with WhyHunger as their new Chef Ambassador," Sánchez said. "WhyHunger works on a grassroots level, involving the younger generation and advocating education and a hands-on approach. It's exciting to see the programs develop and grow and I'm hoping to help raise awareness on how hunger impacts everyone."
