"I'm a big fan of AI, moreover AGI (Artificial General Intelligence), I think it can have profound benefits for us as a species, just as long as it's decentralised that is, no one needs Google holding all the power," adds dBridge, whose career began during the conception of drum and bass, and has led to collaborations with producers like Instra:mental, Fierce, Break, Survival, Calibre, Skream and supergroup Bad Company. "I follow a few different projects that involve AI and was intrigued by what Aimi can and will do. Would it make similar musical choices I would make? Can I come away being inspired by the choices it makes and I wouldn't personally think to make? Can it learn to arrange Drum and Bass? A very non linear style of music. I was pleasantly surprised by the results and I think you will be too. This project works on many levels; for the listener they get to listen to an unending flow of ideas that are based in the sound of me and I get to maybe use some of those ideas. I'm especially keen to hear how it evolves, I think that's why I got involved with this project. I want to know if it will move forward in its thinking the same way I do. As I feed new material into it, could it maybe offer up an insight into where I head next...The EK Loops await."
Following the free phase that will further expand this fall, Aimi+ will shift to a paid model with a monthly subscription fee, using blockchain technology and smart contracts to administer royalties and establish a new economy where creators earn money on work that would have otherwise gone uncompensated.
