SEPTEMBER 5, 2025 (NEW YORK, NY) – Today, multi-platinum, chart-topping band AJR released their new EP, What No One’s Thinking, via AJR Productions. The five-song project offers an introspective exploration of the quiet corners of everyday emotion. Produced and written entirely by the band, the EP showcases AJR’s inventive production and clever lyricism at its most refined. The EP also includes their single, “Betty,” which the band debuted on Jimmy Kimmel Live! earlier this summer. Listen to the EP HERE.

Also today, the band released the music video for “The Big Goodbye,” a poignant reflection on the bittersweet nature of success. The track explores the thrill of achieving life-long dreams, while also confronting the loneliness of watching loved ones move into new chapters of their own. “The Big Goodbye” sound has 25M views on TikTok and has garnered 5,500 video creates since the track was first teased. Watch the music video HERE.

A hallmark of AJR’s catalog is their rare gift for transforming familiar voices and sounds into something entirely fresh. That instinct powered their 5x-platinum single “Bang!,”which featured the iconic voice of New York City subway announcer Charlie Pellett and continues on “The Big Goodbye,” which samples the rapid-fire chant of an auctioneer.

“Our goal with this EP was to be as direct as possible in the songwriting - telling the story of our last year exactly how it happened, exactly how we’d write in a diary or say it to a close friend.” AJR shares. “It’s the hardest collection of songs we’ve ever written, but the most rewarding to listen back to.”

What No One’s Thinking emerged from an unexpected and deeply personal creative breakthrough. Although AJR initially hadn’t planned to write new music this year, a spontaneous conversation unearthed a wave of emotion they’d been quietly carrying – grief from family losses, relationship changes, and the pressures of everyday life. The result is a collection of five songs – raw, honest, and emotionally open – and the most vulnerable music they’ve ever released. With over 200,000 pre-savesWhat No One’s Thinking marks a career high for AJR, a clear reflection of the anticipation for their most personal work yet.

The new EP arrives on the heels of AJR’s Somewhere in the Sky Tour, which brought their celebrated live show to amphitheaters and outdoor venues across the US and Canada. The tour kicked off on July 18 in Sparks, NV and will culminate with their first-ever performance at the iconic Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on October 4. In true AJR fashion, the tour features a high-energy setlist, immersive visuals, and performances of fan favorites like “Bang!,” “World’s Smallest Violin," “Weak,” and tracks from their 2023 album, The Maybe Man, and the new EP.

AJR also invited several of their favorite artists to join throughout the tour, includingValleyMadelyn Mei, and Goth Babe, who are set to join at The Hollywood Bowl, as well as Cavetown, Lawrence, Quinn XCII, Chelsea Cutler, and more, offering fans a unique, festival-esque experience. About AJR

Re-envisioning what pop can be in the 21st century, AJR unassumingly emerged as a ubiquitous hit-making outlier and one of the biggest indie bands in the world. Since 2012, the multi platinum indie pop trio—Adam [bass, vocals], Jack [vocals, guitar], and Ryan [ukulele, piano, vocals]—have generated billions of streams and earned three 5x-platinum singles, one triple-platinum single, three double-platinum singles, and one platinum album. 2019’s Neotheater marked their biggest first-week debut, bowing at #8 on the Billboard Top 200, #1 on the Top Alternative Albums Chart, and #1 on the Top Rock Albums Chart. Cemented as part of the modern zeitgeist, Spotify touted “Sober Up” [feat. Rivers Cuomo] among the “Best Rock Songs of the 2010s," while Apple Music included “Weak” on its “Best Alt Songs of the 2010s.” Not to mention, they remain one of the “500 Most-Listened to Artists” on Spotify. On the heels of  Neotheater, they dropped the 2020 5x-platinum blockbuster “BANG!”, which cracked the Top 10 at three radio formats, peaking at No. 6 on the Top 40 chart, No. 2 on Alternative radio and No. 1 on Adult Pop and marked their first Top 10 entry on the Billboard Hot 100. Their latest album, The Maybe Man [AJR Productions/Republic Records], was released in 2023. The title character is “a big sad superhero who is always questioning who he is” – like a giant out of your favorite fairy tale), emotion hangs over his head, so it doesn’t have to hang over yours. Last summer, AJR embarked on The Maybe Man Tour, their first-ever arena headline tour, treating over 500,000 fans to a state-of-the-art production that included multiple larger-than-life 3D optical illusions. The band performed to over 40 sold-out shows across the country, including two nights at their hometown arena, Madison Square Garden.
