TUESDAY, JUNE 3 (NEW YORK, NY) - Today, musician, climate advocate, educator and TIME Earth Award recipient Adam Met, from the multi-platinum band AJR, released his debut book, AMPLIFY: How to Use the Power of Connection to Engage, Take Action, and Build a Better World via Harmony Books, a division of Penguin Random House. Amplify is a modern guide to activism, blending insights from the music industry with stories from leading change-makers to help readers build momentum behind the causes they care about. You can order the book HERE.
Met holds a Ph.D. in human rights and sustainable development and is the founder and executive director of Planet Reimagined, which trains and engages the climate leaders of the future using media and entertainment platforms along with strategic advocacy to mobilize climate action. He also is a professor at Columbia University, where he uses his expertise to teach about climate policy and campaigning.
Met appeared on CBS Mornings to discuss the release and launched his national book tour at New York City's iconic 92Y last night, which featured engaging trivia, live music, and a special conversation with Charlie Pellett, the voice of the New York City subway system.
The Amplify Tour will include stops in seven additional cities: Washington DC, Salt Lake City, Boulder, Seattle, San Francisco, Boston, and Chicago. Fans will dive into lively discussions, participate in interactive trivia, and discover practical strategies for making a tangible impact on the world. As a continuation of Planet Reimagined’s touring sustainability commitments, each stop will also engage attendees in local climate and civic action efforts. You can find full routing below and buy tickets HERE.
From stadium acts to indie singer-songwriters, musicians have pioneered ways of sparking passion, building awareness, and catalyzing engagement. Met’s experience growing AJR’s devoted fan base inspired Amplify’s toolkit – empowering individuals to use the same strategies of engagement, authenticity, and collaboration to advance movements on climate and the causes they care about. Co-authored with award-winning journalist Heather Landy, Amplify features insights and interviews from thought leaders including Andrew Yang, David Hogg, Christiana Figueres, Glenn Beck, Bill Nye, and more.
Last fall, Met was honored with the prestigious TIME Earth Award, which recognizes individuals influencing the future of the planet through their work on climate justice, awareness, and activism. Adam joins an exclusive group of Earth Award recipients, including Jane Fonda and John Kerry. You can read his profile HERE.
Adam is a regular commentator on climate issues for CNN, and his climate advocacy work has been featured in outlets including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Rolling Stone, The Hollywood Reporter, Forbes, and NPR Weekend Edition, which profiled Adam in a piece about his effective climate advocacy campaign.
