Today, Grammy-nominated artist Aloe Blacc celebrates a monumental milestone as “Wake Me Up,” the era-defining collaboration he co-wrote and famously voiced with the late Avicii (Tim Bergling), officially surpasses 3 billion streams on Spotify, reaching over 7 billion streams across all platforms. This historic achievement, representing billions more across all streaming platforms, coincides with the beginning of the LA-leg (Blue Note LA four-night residency) of Blacc’s Wake Me Up Tour, which recently wrapped a three-night stay at NYC’s Blue Note.

While "Wake Me Up" became a global phenomenon that topped charts in over 100 countries, the track was built on a deeply personal foundation between three visionary creators. Drawing on his storytelling roots, Aloe Blacc was an essential part of the song's creation, writing the lyrics and developing the vocal melody during a session in Los Angeles with Bergling and Mike Einziger (of Incubus). Blacc's contribution turned the initial acoustic ideas into a universal anthem that continues to resonate with audiences worldwide.

“Working with Avicii and Mike Einziger was an amazing creative moment where everything just clicked,” says Aloe Blacc. He continues, “I’ll always be proud of how my lyrics, Mike's guitar, and Tim's exceptional production continues to inspire billions of listeners around the world.”

Blacc’s connection to the music transcends their shared commercial success; he remains a dedicated supporter of the Tim Bergling Foundation and a dear friend to Tim’s father Klas Bergling. This bond was profoundly evident in 2019 when Blacc lent his voice to “SOS,” the lead single of the posthumous album Tim. The recording process was an emotional one for Blacc as he sought to honor Bergling’s final musical wishes. Most recently, Blacc paid tribute to his collaborator by performing to a sold-out crowd at the Avicii Arena in Stockholm in honor of Tim’s legacy.

After sold-out shows in New York last week, Aloe Blacc hits LA this week at The Blue Note with the Wake Me Up Tour, which celebrates Blacc’s rich catalog—including "The Man" and "I Need A Dollar"—while introducing fans to the "artivism" of his 2025 album Stand Together. Full dates below.

The 7-billion-stream milestone caps off a landmark start to 2026 for Blacc, who was recently named Forbes’ first-ever Artist in Residence. In this role, announced at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Blacc serves as a cultural curator bridging the worlds of creative storytelling and entrepreneurship. From his biotech startup, Major Inc., to his high-profile performances on Jimmy Kimmel Live!Good Morning America, and more, Blacc continues to prove that one voice really can drive global change.
