The evening will be a colorful celebration of sport, culture, and Birmingham history. Presented by Alabama Power, the presentation will feature live entertainment, special effects, and honorable dignitaries including Hunter Kowald—air engineer, real life goblin, inventor, developer of The ‘SkySurfer Aircraft’ and founder of Manned Aviation (an aerospace company that is commercializing an all-electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft).

Hunter Kowald – who began developing aircrafts at the age of 10 – is an American engineer, internet personality, and the creator of the world’s smallest aircraft, the “SkySurfer Aircraft.” In 2021, a video of Kowald flying his aircraft through Time Square went viral amassing over 900M social media impressions and gained international attention with Kowald being featured by CNN, Fox, JimmyKimmel Live, New York Post, Inside Edition, and more. Since then, Kowald and the SkySurfer Aircraft have captured the cultural zeitgeist, working with mainstream celebrities such as Tom Holland, JBalvin, and Brent Rivera as well as top companies like Marvel, Sony Entertainment, and Warner Music Group. In the current Spider-Man movie, No Way Home, Hunter is seen soaring through New York City on the skysurfer aircraft. He also flew down the red carpet at the Spain premiere of Tom Holland’s new movie “Uncharted.”

The World Games 2022 will provide an exclusive opportunity to see Kowald’s SkySurfer in action during the opening ceremonies. Hunter will be teaming up with Iconic Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Bootsy Collins, to officially open the World Games with a special aerial surprise and photo opportunity for attendees.

“I’m eager to demonstrate the latest iteration of our industry breakthrough in personal flight vehicles. We’ve been incredibly hard at work, powering through the engineering of a revolutionary aircraft capable of sustaining the severe running conditions which come with supporting flight in a form factor so small that it can be folded down and carried onto a passenger plane,” says Kowald. This revolutionizes the future of transportation and enables anyone to have safe freedom of movement through the sky. I’m looking forward to this collaboration with the World Games and I am thankful for their recognition of our mission to revolutionize the future of transportation and life by delivering safe, easy, and affordable air travel to everyone.”

Kowald has earned multiple degrees and advanced certifications from Harvard Business School, UCLA, and UNCC. Now with the success of the SkySurfer Aircraft, Kowald has turned his attention toward creating a flyable consumer product that will undoubtedly change the future of personal transportation. The World Games 2022 will provide an exclusive opportunity to see Kowald’s SkySurfer in action during the opening ceremonies. This exclusive opportunity is the first reveal in action of the latest model which provides 25% more flight time in a modular design for travel.
