Today (8.14), Americana-rock duo Marfa release their new song “Remedy,” out now via Big Machine Records/ASCEND Music. Written solely by Marfa’s Bryce Menchaca and Kellen Wall, and produced by Ryan Marrone (Sabrina Carpenter, JP Saxe), the song reflects the emotional tug-of-war between the desires of the heart and the logic of the mind, unraveling the intoxicating cycle of a relationship that's impossible to quit, even when you know it's already lost.

“Our song ‘Remedy’ was written on a whim after we had already finished another song,” said Marfa. “We thought a song about being continuously dragged into an old relationship could only be solved using some kind of remedy or medicine. The opening lyric, ‘rolled up on a rain check just in case maybe you showed up,’ is a perfect example of how both parties are at fault in this situation. The lack of reciprocation or effort leads to finger-pointing, which leads to long nights of frustration or pondering.”

Anchored by a haunting, hypnotic chorus built for a windows-down drive, “Remedy” immerses listeners in brooding, atmospheric harmonies and looping three-note guitar motifs that echo the cyclical pull of a love and the craving for an “easy pill” to erase the hardship. As the duo asks, "If I jump ship, would you jump in after me?" the song ultimately surrenders to the inevitable: "I need a remedy to get lost, but it's a lost cause."

Highlighted by Billboard for their “daring” brand of “buzzy" Americana-rock, Marfa are poised for a breakout as they gear up to release their upcoming project later this year. Following recent releases “Last Time Last" (6.26) and "If It Ain't You" (3.27), the duo continue to fuse their Texas upbringing and Colorado influence into genre-blurring songs that pair indie-rock textures with cinematic Americana storytelling.

Marfa heads into the fall with performances at Boulder Roots Music Fest and AMERICANAFEST, alongside co-headline dates with Jason Scott & The High Heat and a run of headline Texas shows. Throughout 2026, they’ve toured with The Head and The Heart, 49 Winchester and Willow Avalon, and will support Jason Boland & The Stragglers and Houndmouth and on select dates. ABOUT MARFA:
Marfa makes music somewhere between the hazy dreamscape of the mythical Laurel Canyon and the restless energy of modern indie rock. Texas and Washington-raised and shaped by their time in Colorado, Bryce Menchaca and Kellen Wall pair sun-soaked sonics, indie-rock DNA, and timeless storytelling into a sound that feels like the next chapter of the folk and rock icons who came before them, while remaining uniquely their own.

KCRW praised the duo for making “music that ties Laurel Canyon to West Texas,” while Billboard highlighted their range from Everly Brothers-inspired folk-pop to buzzy Americana-rock, calling their music “daring, unpretentious and commercially accessible.” Ones To Watch highlighted their “commitment to storytelling and crafting songs that transport listeners to a vivid, specific place.” The band was also named “Best Breakout Folk Duo” by Westword and featured in HITS Daily Double’s “New & Developing” roundup alongside Olivia Dean and KATSEYE.

Signed to Big Machine Records/ASCEND Music, Marfa has steadily built momentum with songs like breakout track “Daisy,” produced by Josh Block (Leon Bridges, Caamp), which is closing in on 10M streams, “Run For My Money,” produced by Jonathan Wilson (Father John Misty, Dawes, Billy Strings), “If It Ain’t You,” produced by Andrew DeRoberts (Tate McRae, Justin Timberlake), and more.

Marfa’s upcoming project, produced by Ryan Marrone (Sabrina Carpenter, JP Saxe), opens the door to an even bigger, more cinematic chapter, one that stretches beyond the confines of Americana without losing what makes the duo feel unmistakably human. After sharing stages with The Head and The Heart, Band of Horses, 49 Winchester, Willow Avalon and many others, the pair will continue on the road with Houndmouth and a run of co-headlining dates with Jason Scott & The High Heat this fall.
