PERFORMANCE ON THE RACHAEL RAY SHOW SET FOR DECEMBER 6

Amos Lee has shared a 17-song deluxe edition of 'My New Moon,' his "most personal and deeply felt album to date" (Billboard), on digital platforms and limited edition vinyl. The deluxe edition features four new original songs and a wealth of bonus material. Praised as "music to help listeners heal" by Salon and "embarking on a new chapter" by Pitchfork, 'My New Moon' shares stories of courage and resilience that helped Amos work through profound loss in his own life, partly inspired by relationships he built through organizations like Musicians on Call and the Wounded Warrior Project. Originally released in August of this year, the Tony Berg-produced 'My New Moon' debuted at #1 on Billboard's Rock and Americana/Folk charts, in the Top 10 for Current Albums and Top 5 overall on iTunes. The album also delves into some of the most outspoken work of Lee's career, including "Crooked" - "the first great protest song of the Trump era" (AM New York) - and odes to those in Parkland and Charlottesville who refused to let hate and fear win out.

In this vein, the deluxe edition of 'My New Moon' includes a cover of Marvin Gaye's timeless protest anthem "What's Going On," recorded by Lee during a visit to SiriusXM earlier this year. The story behind “What’s Going On” is legendary in its own right and draws more than a few comparisons to our current times, the manifestation of Gaye and his co-writers' frustrations with unchecked police brutality, growing racial injustice and rampant government deception. Lee's version strips away the vibrant Motown Sound for a stark, chilling rendition that cuts to the core of the song's urgent plea for change. "'What's Going On' fits him perfectly," says NPR Music of the cover. "Lee's warm voice embraces the genius melody and the timeless message of the song to full effect."

Amos also discussed last year's horrific events in Charlottesville - the inspiration for deluxe-set song "Dying White Light" - on NPR's 1A: https://the1a.org/shows/2018-08-09/charlottesville-a-year-later

To mark the deluxe release, Amos will perform "Little Light" from 'My New Moon' on The Rachael Ray Show this December 6. The heartfelt track is dedicated to a nine-year-old girl named Maya, who Amos grew close with as she battled and beat cancer. Amos and Maya shared the touching story of their friendship via World Cafe earlier this year: https://n.pr/2MH6YuX

The deluxe edition of 'My New Moon' also features a live version of Lee's top 15 AAA single “No More Darkness, No More Light" recorded at SiriusXM and a remix done by Blake Mills, who plays on the record. Lee will continue touring into 2019, with fellow 'My New Moon’ contributor Ethan Gruska supporting on all dates. A full list is below.
