Today, multi-instrumentalist Amtrac announces his long-awaited third album ‘Extra Time,' out February 3rd via Openers. He also released the LP’s third advanced single,“Contrast”, featuring Reva DeVito, along with a video that takes an avant garde look at stepping out of the comfort of uniformity. This follows Amtrac’s most recent tour with Bob Moses, where he supported them for 22 dates across North America and his collaboration with Diplo and Leon Bridges on “High Rise” and Samuel T. Herring on “Domino.”

Juxtaposed from his serene previous work, ‘Extra Time’ LP touches on the topic of the previous lockdown, while also having assertiveness and urgency within the music itself. It consists of a handcrafted fuse of delicate textures and gritty styles into an unfiltered sonic trip, with each song depicting the process of emotions during a time of uncertainty for the future.

Amtrac said about the upcoming album: "Tapping into my love of film scores, Extra Time plays with cinematic peaks and valleys, swimming in shades of uncertain mood with pulsing rhythms and uneasy lyrics. Musical intermissions allow space to breathe between rushing tracks, while the cover art and music videos mirror the indie film aesthetic. It’s the beginning of a new chapter, born from a moment of trial that hints at triumphs to come."

WATCH THE VIDEO FOR “CONTRAST.” It feels like a spiritual successor to the visuals of Dirty Vegas, Fatboy Slim, Chemical Brothers, and Basement Jaxx.

The director of the video Cameron Veitch stated, “The idea was someone aspiring to stardom but held down by their idea that imitation is the route to get there rather than unique creativity. There seems to be a belief that acting like the celebrity you see online is a way to become them. It forms a real stagnant recycled system that sadly doesn't generate anything new for the culture.”
