'An Evening With Lucia Micarelli' Live Concert PBS Special Debuts March 3 And Will Air On Over 150 Stations Nationwide Throughout The Month
Young Violinist Who Overcame Near Career Ending Injury To Appear In-Studio At 10 PBS Stations For Select Broadcasts Starting Mar
Over 150 PBS stations nationwide will air the live concert film and story featuring beautiful young violinist Lucia Micarelli (pronounced “Loo-shuh”) in March. ‘An Evening with Lucia Micarelli’ begins airing in markets this Saturday, March 3. The special will air extensively throughout the month as part of PBS’s March pledge drive.
Lucia is known to many for her role in HBO’s ‘Treme’ and her featured performances on many arena tours, but this special will introduce her artistry and the inspiring story of her overcoming a tragedy. Lucia, a huge fan of PBS, is thrilled that the organization is excited to share her story and take her career to the next level.
“PBS attracts an audience of all ages – viewers that are engaged in the arts and culture in so many ways – and I think what I’m doing will appeal to everyone,” she says. An animated performer that wears her heart on her sleeve, Lucia guides the audience on a wide-ranging journey from the exploratory works of Ravel to “Spring Can Really Hang You Up The Most,” a movement from the Andalusian ballet ‘El amor brujo’ to Led Zeppelin’s “Kashmir.”
Also in March, Lucia will visit 10 PBS stations to discuss the film in the studio during select broadcasts of the special. The majority of these visits will be live broadcasts. This member station tour begins March 3 at Arizona PBS (Phoenix). A full list of these appearances is below.
Lucia Micarelli says that she has very few memories without a violin in her hand. She began studying when she was just 3 years old and was performing with symphony orchestras by age 6. In the past few years she has been a featured soloist in two of Josh Groban’s world tours. She toured extensively with Chris Botti and was featured in his “Live From Boston” PBS special, as well as Barbra Streisand’s 2013 international tour. She has released two solo albums, “Music From A Farther Room” and “Interlude.” Lucia broadened her career even further when she was cast in the starring role of street-busking musician “Annie” in HBO’s Peabody and Primetime Emmy Award-winning series ‘Treme.’
‘An Evening with Lucia Micarelli’ was filmed in 2017 in Santa Barbara, CA. The DVD and live CD featured in the PBS special will be released widely this fall by Arts Music, a Warner Music Group Company.
