Angie McMahon Releases Cover Of Her Favourite Song Fleetwood Mac’s Silver Springs

Angie McMahon Releases Cover Of Her “Favourite Song,” Fleetwood Mac’s “Silver Springs”

Massive U.S. Tour With Hozier Wraps Up This Week With Five Nights At New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom

Angie McMahon’s 2019 debut album Salt has taken the rising Australian songwriter all across the world – including a current run that hits three continents in two months and features shows with Hozier, Julia Jacklin, Whitney and more. On a recent, similar trek across the globe, McMahon found herself with some down time in Nashville and made an impromptu visit to The Shoebox recording studio, run by her friends Ben Cramer (Old Sea Brigade) and Owen Lewis. In the midst of hanging out, Angie and her band ended up recording a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours b-side “Silver Springs,” with Ben and Owen behind the boards.

Originally just meant for her tour diary,“Silver Springs” ended up becoming a special memory of the run for McMahon - and she’s decided to officially release the cover today. McMahon says “thanks to Ben Cramer and Owen Lewis for recording this and giving us such a nice visit to their studio, to [manager] Charlotte Abroms for the idea, and to Stevie Nicks for my favourite song."

“Silver Springs” comes as Angie prepares to wrap up a month-long US tour supporting Hozier, which concludes in New York this week with five nights at the legendary Hammerstein Ballroom. Each night on stage, Angie has been joining Hozier to perform his hit "Work Song" to capacity crowds. Next week, Angie travels to Europe for tour dates with Julia Jacklin, and special holiday shows in Ireland (“Other Voices” with Whitney) and Scotland (“The World’s Big Sleepout”).

McMahon’s debut album Salt was released in July of this year on Dualtone Records, and American Songwriter said the album “takes you places few singer-songwriters dare to explore, let alone those on their first albums.” The FADER added Salt was “a perfect showcase of McMahon’s gifts as a songwriter and vocalist,” and NPR even remarked, “at times, she sounds like a one-woman reincarnation of Fleetwood Mac.” The record debuted in the Top 5 of Australia’s best-selling albums chart upon its release, and was the country's #1 vinyl release.
