Appalachian Road Show is a 5-piece “roots supergroup” (NPR) known for creating music that speaks to the heart and shares the stories of part of America that is often overlooked. On the band’s new album ‘Jubilation,’ which is available everywhere today (10.7), it celebrates the endurance and resilience of Appalachian people after a trial of hardship. As the band’s fellow champion of Appalachia, Dolly Parton, proclaims in the album’s introduction: “the pride in this place and our people endures even into the modern age” and “every tribulation is answered, in time, with jubilation."

Appalachian Road Show’s music bridges stories from the past to what we all experience today. ‘Jubilation’ is a light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel record that evokes the joy humankind is able to experience after a grueling pandemic season and follows the bands 'Tribulation’ record, which Folk Alley said “perfectly speaks to our dark and unsettling times.”

Through "fiery and versatile” (American Songwriter) string-bending instrumental riffs, riveting melodies, heavenly vocal pairings that make for perfect back-porch harmonies, ‘Jubilation’ delivers an exciting body of music with a sense of pride in America’s Appalachian history and culture. The band re-imagines songs made famous by some of the greatest rock artists including Bob Dylan (“Only A Hobo") and Led Zeppelin (“Gallows Pole”), and creates new arrangements for songs that have been at the core of Appalachian culture for hundreds of years. The album also features original tracks written by the band’s banjo player and vocalist Barry Abernathy and fiddler Jim VanCleve.

No Depression says the album’s “Tonight I’ll See You in My Dreams’” has the sonic architecture of Merle Haggard’s 'Big City' meet the high lonesome sound of Bill Monroe’s 'Blue Moon of Kentucky,’ here: nodepression.com/album-reviews/album-review-appalachian-road-show-puts-joyful-sound-into-jubilation

“There are singers and there are musicians, and then there are “Artists,” says Jerry Salley, A&R/Creative Director, Billy Blue Records. "Appalachian Road Show are genuine “Artists” in every sense of the word. The amount of time, research and preparation they pour into every song is a true testament to their commitment in preserving the Appalachian history and culture. Their latest effort, “Jubilation,” is in my opinion, their very best project yet! From the love for a “Blue Ridge Mountain Baby,” to the ride with “Only A Hobo,” to the creaking of the “Gallows Pole,” this is pure art, presented by some of the very best musicians and singers who ever picked up an instrument. You can feel the emotion of “Jubilation” in every note they play and sing. It cannot be overstated what an honor it is to work with them and represent their music to the world.”

Members of Appalachian Road Show include GRAMMY-nominated and IBMA Award-winning artists who have performed with artists including Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, Emmylou Harris, Vince Gill, Josh Turner, Ricky Skaggs, Rhonda Vincent, JD Crowe and more.
