In 1981, Leon Everette reached Top 5 on Billboard’s Hot Country Singles chart with “Hurricane,” originally released by Levon Helm and later by roots outfit Band Of Heathens in 2011. Today (1.26), hot country newcomer Austin Williams shares a bone-chilling revival of the fan-favorite song, delivering a passionate performance that is sure to stay with listeners.

After hundreds of thousands of fans clamored for his cover of the song on TikTok, Williams decided to share the full version. Previously praised by Billboard for his “burly” vocal ability, he adds a haunting new grit to the beloved track.

“After playing this song in my live shows, I knew I wanted to record a version of my own,” says Williams. “Y’all’s reactions allowed me to do that. Hurricane is out now and all yours!”

A true one-to-watch in country music, Williams was named to TikTok's Musical Class of 2023 per GRAMMY.com after amassing more than 500k followers and 4 million likes on the platform. He also recently signed a booking deal with CAA and will open on tours for Tyler Hubbard, Warren Zeiders and Larry Fleet this year.
