Awards & Recognition For D'Addario At Winter NAMM 2016 Includes Best In Show For NYXL Bass

Congratulations to D'Addario & Company and the D'Addario Foundation, for a record number of awards and recognition received at the 2016 NAMM Show. D'Addario unveiled eleven new products at NAMM across their fretted, percussion, accessories, woodwinds and orchestral lines. This includes the revolutionary NYXL Bass string line, awarded Best In Show for Accessories and Add-ons by Music, Inc. The company also won the Music & Sound Retailer Outstanding Community Service Award, for the third year in a row. The awards are the result of polls, voting and panel selections. D'Addario is the world's largest maker of instrument strings and accessories.

Fretted:

*NYXL Bass Strings: The same groundbreaking innovations that have powered NYXL guitar strings to global acclaim have now been applied to a new premium bass string. D'Addario's most versatile bass string yet, NYXL Bass features D'Addario's exclusive NY Steel core and reformulated nickel-plated wrap wire, offering deeper, more powerful lows, accentuated harmonics, and focused punch.

*Nickel Bronze Acoustic Strings: The brand new uncoated Nickel Bronze acoustic series features an innovated combination of nickel-plated phosphor bronze wrapped around a high carbon NY steel core, engineered to bring out the unique tonal characteristics of any guitar and allow its natural voice to shine. The nickel-plated wrap wire gives a guitar unprecedented clarity, resonance, and projection, as well as outstanding balance and harmonically rich overtones.

Promark:

*Acorn Tips: Promark by D'Addario has announced a reinvention of their drumstick line that will feature a newly designed acorn tip added to a number of popular models. The new acorn tip models will be available in both Forward Balance and Rebound Balance, Promark's exclusive system for optimizing a player's performance style through strategically placed weight balance. Promark's new tips widen the "sweet spot" with engineering specifically tailored to increase responsiveness and adaptability.

Orchestral:

*Kaplan Amo and Vivo Strings for Viola: For the first time ever, D'Addario's signature Kaplan Amo and Kaplan Vivo string lines are available for viola. Kaplan Amo has been tailored for brighter instruments, accentuating warmth, richness and flexibility, while the Kaplan Vivo is designed for darker instruments and highlights a robust feel focused on clarity and projection. Both are designed to have a textured, expressive sound reminiscent of gut strings. These two new synthetic core sets will join D'Addario's existing stranded-steel core Kaplan viola set, which has been renamed Kaplan Forza.

*Kaplan Solo Bass Strings: The Kaplan Orchestral set will be expanded for orchestral tuning on the double bass. These brand new strings are customized to bolster the projection and clarity of the instrument, essential for soloistic playing, while maintaining the bow response and tonal balance that is consistent across the Kaplan string line. The string set will be available in � size and medium tension, and a D-extension string will also be available.

Woodwinds:

*Reserve Soprano and Tenor Saxophone Reeds: A completion of the Reserve Saxophone Reed Line, the Soprano and Tenor Saxophone reeds each feature seven strengths, ranging from 2.0 - 4.5, including a special 3.0+ (3.25) quarter strength. Each Reserve reed is made using D'Addario's innovative Digital Vamping Process, which precisely measures and cuts every reed to the tightest tolerances.

*Reeds Guards: D'Addario's new Reed Guard is a stylish, effective way to keep reeds safe and secure. An innovation in protection, the new reed guards offer a convenient, affordable storage solution. The grooved surfaces prevent reed warping, and the soft elastomer cover is designed to securely yet gently hold an assortment of clarinet and saxophone reeds.

*All-Natural Cork Grease: Made with a unique blend of natural and organic materials, this cork grease provides and retains ample, non-greasy lubrication to keep corks at their best and prevent them from breaking down.

*Practice Grip: An instrumental hand exerciser designed for woodwind and brass instrumentalists who use keys or valves.
