Berlin’s DIY ambassador Mogli – the 25-year-old singer, producer, filmmaker, designer, advocate, and overall artistic polymath – will release her ‘Patience’ EP on March 22nd. A melancholic, dream-like pop statement on change and the patience necessary to survive emotional upheaval and depression, each of the EP’s five cinematic tracks represents a distinct moment of growth and transition, laced with the lingering grief for a past life that inevitably accompanies this growth.

The mental health battle Mogli faced after breaking up with a longtime boyfriend, and her subsequent move from the remote German countryside to Berlin serve as the main inspirations for ‘Patience.’ Starting with the aural, lyricless emotional heights of electronic-tinged, piano-driven “Intro” and ending with “Cryptic,” a cerebral battle with Mogli’s own instincts and intuition, the EP is a snapshot of an artist in flux. Joni Mitchell-reminiscent lead single “Another Life” tackles the relatable but little-discussed feeling one gets when seeing a stranger and wondering, if only for a moment, about the possibility of a life together. On title track “Patience,” an understated, momentous pop beat and 80s vibe precede the smoky, sensual synths of “Strobe Light,” a song inspired by the feeling of watching someone slip through your fingers and the mental image of “losing someone’s face in the crowd, and yourself, in a night of dancing.”

Nurturing her creative and artistic instincts since her earliest memories, Mogli grew up in a gender-norm free household where her two mothers imbued feminist, egalitarian ideals into all aspects of everyday life (for example, instead of “jumping jacks,” they exercised with “jumping janes”). At age eleven, she joined an opera company where she sang until she was eighteen, and performed throughout her schooling years in shows in London and throughout Europe. She gained international recognition for her work in 2017 with the global Netflix release of ‘Expedition Happiness,’ her epic travel documentary which chronicled her and her then-boyfriend’s journey from Alaska to Mexico in a yellow school bus that they converted into a tiny mobile home on wheels. The film sold over 150,000 tickets in its theatrical run, and she released her album ‘Wanderer’ as the soundtrack, which cracked the top 40 in Europe.

Mogli’s music has been streamed more than thirty million times, and in addition to her musical and film work, she’s also a fair fashion designer and ambassador with a sustainable fashion line under her belt and more to come. This spring, she tours the US for the first time ever, headlining such venues as Brooklyn’s Rough Trade and LA’s Moroccan Lounge on her “Mirrors” Tour. Full US routing is below.
