BEYOND MUSIC Volume One Same Sky (out August 23) is an album, but it's best to describe it as a social-musical-cultural experiment: 23 artists from 17 countries collaborated together on the digital platform BEYOND MUSIC, www.beyondmusic.org,and met for the first time live in the South of France to create this definitive global music album in just 12 days, all overseen and produced by 2018 GRAMMY of the Year nominee Larry Klein. Today the first two songs from the record have been unveiled and showcase just how transcendent this album is, of borders and genres.

*“Ma Ding Wo Avale One” - a crisp neo-soul song with a deep groove - was composed and written by American John Lumpkin and Cameroon singer Danielle Eog Makedah: https://lnk.site/ma-ding-wo-avale-one

“Ma Ding Wo Avale” was inspired by singer Makedah’s daughter - who was born with physical and mental disabilities, and cannot sit or speak - but especially loves when her mother sings to her.

*“El Clavel Del Aire” - a freewheeling hybrid of sounds from South America and East Africa - was composed and written by Argentinian Latin GRAMMY nominee Mariana Baraj and Tanzanian Msafiri Zawose: https://lnk.site/el-clavel-del-aire

Translated to “carnation of the air,” this song is about freedom and the importance of fostering a free spirit, inspired by a certain type of carnation that doesn’t need soil to grow and blossom.

The artists featured on the album first shared ideas and created song demos via the online platform BEYOND MUSIC: http://www.beyondmusic.org. Musicians from around the world were encouraged to create a new song on the platform, working with artists they'd never met. BEYOND received 110 submissions, and 10 winning songs were selected. Same Sky is the first volume in what will be an annual project.

The 23 artists included in the project hail from Argentina, Armenia, Belgium, Cameroon, Congo, Denmark, Egypt, India, Iraq, Israel, Ivory Coast, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, Russia, Switzerland, Tanzania, and the USA.

Artistic Director and producer of the album Larry Klein assembled the core band, of all-star musicians session players including Dean Parks, Ed Harcourt, Adrian Utley, Manu Katché, Clive Deamer and Dan Lutz, who have collectively played with Sting, Peter Gabriel, Michael Jackson, Patti Smith, Stevie Wonder, Madonna, Radiohead, Portishead and beyond.
