February 28, 2022 -- Today, San Francisco’s preeminent school for rock, blues, jazz, folk and pop, Blue Bear School of Music, is thrilled to name San Francisco’s very own Jordan Auleb as the school’s Director of Artist Relations & Events. Now in its fifty-first year, Blue Bear School of Music boasts an impressive list of supporting artists including Jack Black, longtime Bob Weir drummer Jay Lane, Don Was, Steve Earle, Pat Benatar, Tracy Chapman, Clarence Clemons, Counting Crows, The Doobie Brothers, Green Day, Bruce Hornsby, Booker T. Jones, Bobby McFerrin, Metallica, Bonnie Raitt, Keith Richards, and Carlos Santana. Part of what makes the school so widely successful are the staff and teachers who have steered the students and programming over the last fifty years.

An honors graduate of Guilford College’s Political Science and Community and Justice Studies programs and a current student at Harvard’s Extension School for her Master’s of Psychology, Auleb leads the school’s fundraising and artist engagement campaigns alongside the staff and GRAMMY award-winning artists, up-and-coming artists, politicians, donors and more. Her previous work as the Founder of BANDAID Social Media included collaborations with the Plastic Pollution Coalition, Headcount, BottleRock, Sound Summit/Mount Tam Jam, Wavy Gravy and Camp Winnarainbow, Seva Foundation, and Cracked Up: The Darrell Hammond Story.

“Jordan brings a whole new level of engagement with a broad music community. Her extensive history with music events and nonprofits makes her a perfect fit with the Blue Bear mission. She’s quickly becoming a key member of our staff."

- Executive Director Dr. Steven Savage

“As an SF native I’ve always known about the powerful work Blue Bear does; I am grateful to Steve Savage, the board, and the staff for the opportunity to support such a wonderful arts institution. I remain in awe of Blue Bear’s ability to make quality music education accessible to all, and find supporting that mission a great privilege.”

Earlier this year, following the non-profit’s 50th-anniversary, Blue Bear announced that celebrated singer/songwriter Bonnie Hayes, who previously served a seven year stint as the Chair of the Songwriting Department at Berklee School of Music, would return to the school as the Executive Director at Blue Bear’s new East Bay Campus, slated to open in the fall of 2022.

Blue Bear School of Music has brought together artists and bands across the city's most storied venues including The Fillmore, The Chapel and Sweetwater Music Hall in Mill Valley. Now, moving swiftly into another year, the school has their eyes on expanding their community with a brand new, 2,100-square-foot facility on Solano Avenue.

They're also planning a partnership with Mission Bay's Mercy Housing, a national developer of affordable housing, offering free music programming to Mercy Housing residents and other low-income housing tenants in the neighborhood.

Through 62 community partnerships, the school has enrolled 4,000 kids in free classes and offers free music education courses in local schools, community centers, churches, and family shelters. With 300 teaching musicians in its history, Blue Bear’s range of courses has grown to include electronic music, DJing, and the Little Bears program for toddlers.

Blue Bear is a 501(c)(3) non-project, all donations made are tax-deductible as permitted by law. More information below and https://bluebearmusic.org.
