Bonnie Raitt's #6 Debut is Her Highest in 18 Years

Bonnie Raitt's 'Slipstream' (Redwing Records) debuted at #6 on the Billboard 200 this week, marking the nine time GRAMMY-winner's highest charting album and best sales week in nearly two decades with 64,000 sold. The album came in at #1 on the Billboard Independent Album Chart, #1 on the Billboard Blues Album Chart, and #1 on the Billboard Internet Album Chart. 'Slipstream' is also #5 on the Digital Album Chart and #11 on the vinyl (LP) chart. Raitt's last album to debut in the Top 10 was 1994's 'Longing In Their Hearts.'

NPR praised 'Slipstream' as "vital and fresh... beautiful," a sentiment echoed by Rolling Stone, who in a 4-star review called the album "mood music with a razor edge." Wrote Entertainment Weekly, "Superb... she slips her purring voice into every song like a letter going into an envelope addressed just to you."

Raitt performed the album's first single "Right Down the Line" on four national TV shows during release week – Ellen, Letterman, Colbert, and GMA. Watch below:
