Boz Scaggs' 'Out Of The Blues' (Concord Records) Debuts At #1 On Blues Albums Chart, #3 On Americana/Folk Albums Chart
After reaching #1 on the iTunes and Amazon blues charts in the days after it was released, Boz Scaggs’ new album ‘Out of the Blues’ (Concord Records) has just debuted at #1 on the Blues Albums charts. Other impressive rankings include #3 on the Americana/Folk Albums chart, #5 on Current Rock Albums, and #10 on Billboard Top Albums. It’s currently #3 on the Americana Albums radio chart and is #1 Greatest Gainer and #1 Most Added.
Boz’s sonic love letter to some early heroes (plus a number of new compositions) has earned raves across the board since its release on July 27. It’s been praised by USA Today, the Associated Press, Rolling Stone, Billboard, American Songwriter and more. Boz has also been featured on public radio shows such as NPR Weekend Edition, KPCC The Frame, American Routes, and World Café.
On August 28, Boz heads out on an extensive national tour through mid-November, including LA’s Orpheum Sept 29 and NYC’s Town Hall on November 14. Full dates below.
‘Out Of The Blues’ is a self-produced mix of blues deep cuts and new originals that finds Scaggs - born in Ohio, raised in Texas and Oklahoma - reconnecting with his earliest musical and regional influences. It marks the final piece of an unofficial trilogy of genre albums for Boz, which began with the Steve Jordan-produced albums 'Memphis' and 'A Fool to Care.' The all-star band on the record includes guitarists Doyle Bramhall II, Ray Parker Jr. and Charlie Sexton, bassist Willie Weeks, drummer Jim Keltner, keyboardist Jim Cox, and Jack Walroth on harmonica.
