Earlier this week, multi-platinum artist, acclaimed singer-songwriter and GRAMMY award-winner Carlos Vives debuted his most recent single “Canción Bonita” with his friend, renowned global artist and multiple GRAMMY-winner, Ricky Martin.
The track debuted #2 in Global Trends on Youtube, trended in 18 countries, and was placed as one of iTunes’s top songs in 19 countries.
For the first time on television, Carlos Vives and Ricky Martin shared the stage in one of the most memorable moments of the Latin American Music Awards 2021. Their camaraderie, energy, and love for Puerto Rico transported present and virtual audiences on a multicolored journey around the island to the rhythm of the beautiful song.
“Canción Bonita” is a declaration of love for Puerto Rico, a charming story that has been woven since Carlos and Ricky met on the island years ago, a moment that inspired several of their musical successes over the years uniting them forever.
The video was directed by Carlos Pérez (Elastic People) and was filmed in Old San Juan, Piñones, and the iconic El Batey bar, highlighting the aesthetics, culture, and history of Puerto Rico.
“My time in Puerto Rico had an incredible influence on my music, and the enchantment and the happiness of that music will forever live in my heart. Premiering this song at such an important award show means a lot to me, as well as sharing the stage with my great friend, Ricky," said Vives.
