Cory Henry Announces New Album ‘Something To Say’

Out October 30 Via Culture Collective

Today, singer/songwriter, composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist and all-around keyboard master Cory Henry announces his new studio album ‘Something To Say.’ Due on October 30 the eleven-track collection further highlights Henry’s self-described genre of “future soul.”

Born in the midst of one of the most challenging times our world has ever seen, ‘Something To Say’ tackles subjects like love, breakups, social consciousness, injustices and the effects of being emotionally drained. On the recently released “Rise,” which was named a Top Tune by KCRW and is set to feature in ESPN’s Monday Night Football programming, Cory delivers a powerful and unifying song written to inspire people in every country to come together and rise to make it a better world. The song features Henry’s virtuosic Hammond B-3 organ playing and The Funk Apostles’ signature blend of uplifting funk, soul and gospel. On “Happy Days,” the bouncy first single from the album, Henry tells the listener “if you want my love just say,” promising brighter days ahead.

'Something To Say' is the studio follow up to Henry’s 2018 debut with the Funk Apostles, Art Of Love. His first venture with The Funk Apostles (Adam Agati, Guitar; TaRon Lockett, Percussion; Nick Semrad, Keyboard; Sharay Reed, Bass), the album was praised by the New York Times and Billboard and found the band performing an incredible Tiny Desk Concert for NPR Music.

Above all, with Something To Say, Cory Henry made music to fulfill him and he’s hoping to spread that message to the world. “I feel good because all of the songs came together and they mean something to me,” he humbly advises, “so I hope they mean something to other people.”

ABOUT CORY HENRY

Internationally renowned artist, composer, producer, multi-instrumentalist and all-around keyboard master Cory Henry was born to be a musician. Picking up the organ at two and becoming a permanent fixture of his church’s choir by five, it wasn’t long before he was sharing the stage with the likes of Ms. Lauryn Hill, Quincy Jones and The Roots and winning a Grammy Award as a vital part of instrumental collective Snarky Puppy. Cory has made a name for himself as a vocalist, instrumentalist and writer for icons spanning generations, but his work at the helm of his own band Cory Henry and the Funk Apostles is what shot him into superstardom. Cory Henry and the Funk Apostles are known for consistently enchanting live performances, and their viral NPR Tiny Desk show is a testament to this. NPR’s All Things Considered raved that Henry “can glide through just about any song on the Hammond with the ease of someone taking the family car out for a Sunday drive.” With over 100 million aggregated Youtube views, the Brooklyn-born and LA-based “future soul” maestro’s far-reaching impact sets the stage for a promising return on ‘Something To Say.’
