Courtney Marie Andrews has revealed her new album, Valentineout today via Thirty Tigers. Written during a period of profound endings and new beginnings, the ten-song collection finds the Nashville-based, Phoenix-born musician transforming limerence into "luminous" (New York Times) strength. Deemed “Andrew’s most sonically explorative record” (Creative Independent), Valentine was recorded to tape in Los Angeles, bestowing the record a “rich, lived-in studio sound” (Under the Radar), that showcases her “astonishingly beautiful" (Stereogum) voice and songwriting “about shared humanity, grief and hard-won love” (NPR Music). Radiating with resilience as she traces the terrain between ache and renewal, Valentine is “an unfiltered look into Andrews’ heart,” says The Bluegrass Situation who have named her their Artist of the Month. “It's a record in pursuit of love,” says Andrews. “But love, it turns out, is a lot more than I gave it credit for...I was in one of the darkest periods of my life, and songs were the only way I could reckon with it.”

To accompany release, Andrews has shared an intimate live performance of “Everyone Wants to Feel Like You Do” - which features a Petty-esque drumbeat marching under an indictment of a person who feels they can move through the world however they want without consequence. “This is the kind of person who lives in a world solely of their own puppeteering,” says Andrews. “The person whose life has the main character energy. The privileged kind, unconcerned with the marginalized. In the guitar solo, I wanted to play like someone with this entitlement; someone unaware of their affect on others.”

Andrews previewed the ten-song collection with Cons and Clowns” - called “a safety blanket of a single...with the most perfect timing" (Stereogum) “Keeper,” a worn-hearted plea for uncertain love, and “Little Picture of a Butterfly,” a “New Age-textured swirl of synths, ambient percussion, and flute tones, with Andrews’ vocals fluttering above the pretty and psychedelic mix” (Under the Radar). Valentine is “emotionally-rich…music you can feel, songs you can touch,” as Marissa Moss put in a recent Don’t Rock The Inbox interview

The new music arrives on the heels of Courtney's second collection of poetry via Simon & Schuster, Love Is a Dog That Bites When It's Scared furthering her work as an accomplished multidisciplinary artist across three different mediums: from music, poetry and her work as a visual artist. Her most recent studio projects were 2022’s Loose Future, which Pitchfork described as “a shimmering piece of self-acceptance,” and 2020’s Old Flowers which earned her a GRAMMY nomination for Best Americana Album.

After a string of shows across Europe and the United Kingdom in February and March, Andrews will bring Valentine across the U.S. this spring, kicking off in Nashville and stopping in Austin, a hometown show in Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, Chicago, New York, Boston, Washington, D.C., and more.
