Dan Mangan + Blacksmith will play a select handful of U.S. shows next year amidst their headlining Canadian tour, which includes a stop at Toronto's famed Massey Hall. The ensemble will blend Mangan's earlier freewheeling and folk-tinged songs that earned him two JUNO Awards (New Artist of the Year, Alternative Album of the Year) with new music from 'Club Meds' (out 1/13, Arts & Crafts) - his most lyrically pointed and sonically experimental release yet. SPIN hailed the new songs as "enthralling," KEXP praised Mangan as "one of Canada's most affecting and incisive songwriters," and NPR Music's Bob Boilen said the surreal video for lead single "Vessel" "stopped him cold."
