As a child, Daniel Tashian was introduced to Johnny Marks ("Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer," "Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree," "A Holly Jolly Christmas"), a holiday music legend who happened to play chess with his grandfather at a local Rotary Club in his hometown of Westport, CT. That introduction sparked a lifelong love of Christmas music from age six. Now, Tashian, who began writing songs as a teenager, is 10 years into writing Christmas songs with six recorded by artists like Kacey Musgraves ("Glittery feat. Troye Sivan"), Tim McGraw (“Christmas All Over The World”), Tenille Townes ("One in a Million") Jessie James Decker (“Baby! It’s Christmas”) and more.

Today (10.15), the GRAMMY-winning songwriter and producer known for helping artists like Kacey Musgraves, Birdy, Brett Eldredge, Lily & Madeleine and Lucie Silvas develop their one-of-a-kind sounds, announces ‘It’s a Snow Globe World,’ a 5-song Christmas collection featuring collaborations with Rita Wilson, Karen Elson, Patty Griffin and Sarah Buxton, out November 5th via Big Yellow Dog Music. The EP represents the culmination of a lifetime of writing Christmas songs for Tashian.

Tashian shares the first single, “Christmas in the Heart” featuring Rita Wilson, out today (10.15). The song features a warmth and nostalgia that is found in the timeless Christmas classics families sing along to year after year, including some of Tashian’s favorites like The Christmas Song (Nat King Cole), Jingle Bell Rock (Bobby Helms), Do You Hear What I Hear (Bing Crosby) and more.

“You go to a Christmas song for nostalgia; it’s like a comfort food,” says Tashian. “It’s hard for listeners to accept new Christmas songs. It’s like trying a new kind of ketchup. I remember hearing Nat King Cole’s ’The Christmas Song’ at my grandparents’ house — that’s where it all stems from. There was heavy snow, a warm fireplace and a 12ft tall Christmas tree. It would be a dream for one of my songs to become one of the Christmas classics that brings listeners back to those moments.”

In addition to his Christmas music, Tashian is collaborating with legendary Nashville songwriter and guitarist Paul Kennerley on Kennerley’s first full project in more than 20 years. The soon-to-be-announced album harks back to the old school sounds of artists like The Everly Brothers and Buddy Holly.
