Deepak Chopra and Michael Shermer Debate Religion's Role in the 21st Century with Intelligence Squared U.S., March 27

Does society still need religion, or do reason and philosophy make better guideposts for the 21st century? On Tuesday, March 27, with Easter just around the corner, the "fantastic" (New Yorker) Intelligence Squared U.S. follows recent debates about the economy, dating apps, and humanitarian intervention with a debate on the motion "The More We Evolve, The Less We Need Religion."

Best-selling author Dr. Deepak Chopra and emergency physician Dr. Anoop Kumar will defend religion's place in the world during turbulent times. Debating against them are Michael Shermer, founder of the Skeptics Society, and Rebecca Goldstein, MacArthur Genius Grant-winning philosopher.

The debate will be held at NYC's Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College and stream live online, then air soon after as part of the syndicated public radio show and podcast "Intelligence Squared U.S." On March 27, online viewers can tune in at IQ2US's website: https://www.intelligencesquaredus.org
