GRAMMY-Nominees’ Latest Drops Today - Listen Here / Lyric Video Here

Diamond-certified & GRAMMY-nominated songwriter Delacey flexes her exquisite writing chops on the understatedly poignant “One Mississippi” (via Photo Finish Records), her brand new track that drops today. The dreamy mid-tempo ballad feels achingly real, pointing out the simple details (a sticky tangerine, sipping a Dr. Pepper, withering potted plants) that we paint our everyday lives with and the ways we try to carry on, minute-by-minute, when a rift plagues a relationship. With a reference inspired by hide & seek, Delacey brings to life the anguish of two lovers’ experiencing turbulence and how time can seem to move so slowly when things aren’t right.

“The song initially came to be because of a story my co-writer told me about a song he made up to keep count playing hide and seek with his daughter, Ruthie. It happen to strike a chord with me because I was currently in a pretty big fight with my fiancé and was feeling very insecure about my relationship and we decided to tie in the idea of “keeping count” as a way of describing how slow the minutes pass for me when I’m feeling anxious about a disconnect in my relationship. I usually need distractions of any kind. I suppose writing the song was one of them.”

It’s the latest from an artist & writer unafraid to confront the pitfalls of life with a clever perspective & soulfully moody vocal delivery. Her last track, “Man on the Moon” (with an accompanying video that would be a surrealist artist’s dream) was called “a near-perfect pop song” by Analogue, and recounts the frustrating emotional distance felt with a loved one you so desperately want to reach.

Both tracks follow her recent signing to Photo Finish Records, as well as the monumental success of her debut album, 'Black Coffee' (2020), which found Billboard praising her "unflinchingly honest approach to songwriting," with others hailing her "steamy vocals" (American Songwriter) and "articulate production" (Earmilk).

But the West Coast music maven had already begun making her mark in the pop genre through songwriting long before her debut project arrived – co-penning massive hits over the years for artists including Justin Bieber, Dove Cameron, The Chainsmokers, Gayle, Zara Larsson, and many more, which have not only racked up Billions of streams, but also lead to her earning her first GRAMMY nomination at the 64th Annual GRAMMY Awards (2022) and being named among Genius' 'Top 25 Songwriters of 2022.'

Earlier this year, she also joined an enviable and highly-esteemed handful of songwriters across the nation who have written a DIAMOND-certified single when Halsey's "Without Me" – a tune co-penned by Delacey – became the 100th song in U.S. history to earn the rare RIAA certification.
