Downtown Appoints Global Head of People

New York, NY, July 17, 2018 -- Furthering its commitment to investing in a world class team, Downtown has promoted Lisa Hauptman to the newly-created role of Global Head of People.

In this new role, Hauptman will spearhead talent development and recruitment for Downtown's rapidly growing teams across its Downtown Music Publishing and Songtrust businesses. Since July 2016, Hauptman oversaw recruitment as the company expanded from 44 to 110 full-time employees worldwide, and added three new offices in Tokyo, Paris, and Sydney. Downtown currently has over a dozen job openings available across a variety of different segments including technology, licensing, marketing, and business affairs.

Unique in the industry, Downtown has aimed to recruit a diverse team from both within and outside the industry, with recent hires joining from such companies as the Bank of Tokyo, Betterment, Grey Group, Kickstarter, The Lab, and Venmo. The company is also committed to gender equity with approximately half of its workforce as women including leadership positions across various business units.

Reporting to Andrew Bergman, Chief Operating Officer at Downtown, Hauptman will continue to oversee human resource operations and lead the company's innovative internship program which aims to provide students from around the world the opportunity to gain first-hand knowledge about the intricacies of the global songwriting and music rights management industry.

"Lisa is extremely passionate about our company and the team. She has and will continue to play a critical role in the company's talent development and recruitment," said Bergman. "She has also become a crucial component of the management team due to her experience in developing executive talent and her tremendous instincts for people."

Hauptman, a seasoned veteran in human capital management experience, joined Downtown in 2015 as Executive Director of Operations, following nearly two decades at Davis Shapiro Lewit Grabel Leven Granderson & Blake, LLP, a music law firm founded by Fred Davis, where she helped grow the company from two employees to a 45-person multi-city organization.

Adding to the People team, Downtown has named Travis Cowan as Talent Acquisition and Retention Specialist and Nina Lampcov as Human Resources Coordinator. Cowan will be responsible for maintaining relationships with the hiring managers at the company to better understand their needs and proactively recruit the best talent for the growing global company. Both will report to Hauptman.
