October 13, 2023 - - Erick the Architect has released “Ambrosia,” a new single featuring Channel Tres. The track was co-produced by Linden Jay (Doja Cat, Kelis, Joji, Loyle Carner), and Raf Riley, and is his second single release of 2023. “Ambrosia” shows off Erick’s sultry side - a hushed, slinky beat for the lovers on the dance floor. Says Erick: "Ambrosia is a feel good record that may appear initially as if it’s about the pursuit of a woman, but it’s more about searching for a particular feeling of perfection. Going throughout the day [hoping] that everything lines up perfectly to achieve this nirvana you’re looking for. The weather is perfect, you have the perfect outfit on, you smell great and the vibe is right. In that same light, as much as I am in the pursuit of finding ambrosia, I know that with this attitude I will find what I’m looking for because the night is young." He continues: "I met a Channel well over a year ago during a session with James Blake. He invited us both to the studio and I already had 'Ambrosia' in mind when we first met. We had a lot in common because both of us double as producer and artist, and I think he's all around just a great guy. I think we started a loose idea that night and it was then and there I decided I was going to reach out to him to help me on my album. It's a pleasure to work with him and to have him on my next single."
Says Channel Tres: "Erick is a special artist - we got connected through James Blake at Conway studios and we been homies ever since. Writing this song was fun because it encouraged me to really search in my writing and tap into other parts of my creative process.”
In July, Erick released his first solo work of the year in “Parkour,” which was produced by James Blake. “Parkour” was covered by Stereogum, Consequence, Hypebeast, SPIN, KCRW, HipHopDX, Brooklyn Vegan and WNYC, which calls out Erick’s “striking wordplay,” continuing: “whole essays and books have been written on “othering,” but it’s hard to imagine anyone putting it more succinctly than Erick’s ‘it’s regular to me/it’s foreign when it’s you.’”
While he’s only released two solo recordings in 2023, Erick has been very active as a featured guest, a producer and on the road. He’s featured on Jungle’s “Candle Flame” (over 21 million streams on Spotify) and has been performing the song with Jungle on their U.S. tour. He’s also featured on Whyte Fang’s “Scream,” which Erick performed with Alison Wonderland’s alias at Coachella, as well as on Kimbra’s recent album. He recently did a Market collaboration with George Clinton, was a recent guest on the Mad Happy Podcast, performed with Loyle Carner in London this spring, was profiled in Esquire’s Five Fits fashion column and a Day In The Life piece with Hypebeast. Last fall he completed his first-ever solo headline tour, selling out shows in NYC and Los Angeles and released “No Ice” feat. AKTHESAVIOR. He’s also featured on Mazen’s “Ghost” with Powers Pleasant from earlier this summer. Stay tuned for more updates on Erick, including new music and tour dates.
