“This Is How My Live Sounds” (Live in London) available everywhere today — here

Return to SXSW this year — schedule below

With harmonies “reminiscent of American duos like The Civil Wars” (New Sounds), Ferris & Sylvester will surely echo through the Americana community for years to come. On their debut album Superhuman — available today via Archtop Records/PIAS — the musical and real-life couple solidify their status as “one of the best bands of the last five years” (BBC).

Produced by Ryan Hadlock (The Lumineers, The Strokes) in Seattle’s iconic Bear Creek Studios (Sound Garden, Foo Fighters), and with Michael Rendall (Pink Floyd, Youth) in Cornwall UK’s Sawmills Studios (Robert Plant, Muse, Duran Duran), the album is a full-bodied, hard-rocking statement about the many twists & turns, reckonings and idyllic moments of the couple’s past few years.

The 12-track album delivers punchy takes on the blues-steeped pop of the early-60s, overflowing tunes packed with harmony and agile fretwork, all expressed with a sophisticated musical palette equally suited to heart-wrenching emotion and hellacious catharsis. Ferris & Sylvester sing songs of rage, jealousy, heartbreak, hunger, and the intimate indignities of a relationship. Some of the album’s stand out moments include: hot-blooded White Stripes style-rippers (“Party’s Over”), soulful relationship-assessing pop-rock straight out of Fleetwood Mac’s playbook (“Golden”) and what New Sounds recently called a “bewitching gospel tune” (“Darkness I Feel”).

Alongside the release of the album, Ferris & Sylvester shared the live video for “This Is How My Voice Sounds” -- filmed during their December 2021 show at Lafayette London. Across the nearly 6-minute call to arms, the couple leaves their individual struggles behind and becomes one harmonious voice, finding cathartic release in unison. Watch it here.
