As the #1 new jazz album in America, Honora achieved the top debut on Billboard's Overall Jazz Albums and Contemporary Jazz Albums charts (#2 overall), in addition to breaking the cumulative Top 40 in markets including Australia, Austria, Belgium, Japan, Netherlands, New Zealand, Switzerland, and more. Honora is also one of just two jazz albums on this week's Billboard 200, entering at #3 on Billboard's Indie Store Album Sales, and in the Top 15 on Top Current Album Sales, Top Digital Album Sales, and Vinyl Album Sales.

Praise For Honora

"Amid the guest vocal appearances and an impassioned Flea monologue on 'A Plea' calling for unity amid the divisiveness of our current moment, it's the leader's trumpet work that stands out. On the album's more reflective moments, his lines embody a deep pathos"

New York Times

"A dynamic listening experience that documents the progressive skill and heart of a musical multi-tasker like no other. It's intuitive and inspiring"

Los Angeles Times

"Flea's own deeply meditative and groovy jazz odyssey. Sincere, exploratory and soulful. It's a joy to hear the bass man venturing so far from the day job"

Guardian * * * *

"This is a record that is made out of a love of music, it's a record that is very earnest in its intentions, but it is also a record that is extremely expansive in its thinking"

NPR Music

"Honora is a jazz album, a passion project, a personal collection. And it represents a new beginning for Flea…tackling the timely subjects of civil war, peace and love, and doing so in its own meditative time and space"

Billboard

"It's the record Flea was always meant to make and a record only Flea could make...Flea shines brilliantly"

Pitchfork

"A homecoming journey…the emotional and artistic stakes run deep"

DownBeat, April Cover Story

"Flea proves to be a subtly ambitious trumpeter: witness his Chet Bakerish take on Funkadelic's 'Maggot Brain.' But ultimately, he respects the collectivist energies of the LA scene he's infiltrated"

Mojo  * * * *

"The standout moment is the devastatingly beautiful reimagining of Frank Ocean favourite 'Thinkin Bout You'...The effect is glorious, like slipping into a warm bath after a long run. It makes Honora totally worth the wait"

NME * * * *

"Flea has gravitated back to his first instrument – trumpet – and his first musical love, jazz. It's a sideline he's taken seriously...Honora is the impressive result"

Uncut, 8/10

"His omnivorous tastes live at the very core of Honora, as the songs lean soulful, meditative, and straight from the heart, reconnecting the celebrated bassist to his first instrument"

Alternative Press

"Flea has created an album full of surprises and daring moments...a bold statement"

SPIN

"It asks for your ear, your steadfast proximity and your sincerest regard. And in that space — somewhere between breath and sound, between past and possibility — Flea finds something quietly transcendent: not thoughtless proficiency, but meaning"

JazzTimes

"An atmospheric gem. 'I'm not being corny, this shit is real,' Flea barks at one point during 'A Plea'. He is talking about the tune's pro-unity sentiments, but the statement could equally apply to the whole of this surprising, always engaging debut solo album"

The Line Of Best Fit, 8/10

"A deeply considered, richly textured body of work. His debut project is a captivating moment from a musician reconnecting with the very essence of why he started in the first place, and an artist still chasing new meanings in his rich age"

CLASH, 8/10

"This is a guy whose respect for jazz tradition is evident, and whose quest for beauty is plain from the album's lyrical playing and tuneful delicacy...that's a real accomplishment"
