Francis Ford Coppola Wines and Lindsey Horan are partnering today on the launch of Coppola Wines’ multi-million-dollar advertising campaign for its flagship California wine brand, Diamond Collection. The U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team captain and three-time Olympian has spent her lifetime honing her skills through ups and downs to become one of the nation's top players; her inspirational story exemplifies the central theme of Coppola Diamond Collection’s “It Takes Time to Make a Diamond” campaign, which tells emotive stories of notable individuals who have persevered through adversity. 

While women’s sports face challenges and underrepresentation, Horan is one of the top competitors at the helm of recent excitement and growing conversation around females in athletics. Despite struggles with body-shaming and the inevitably harsh path to becoming an Olympic athlete, Horan is proof that there is no such thing as an overnight success in soccer—just as it takes time to make the perfect wine.

Horan is the first person to be featured in the Coppola Diamond Collection campaign after winery founder, Francis Ford Coppola, whose story launched the campaign in 2023, and whose periodic professional setbacks—as well as his triumphs—over the course of his storied filmmaking career are well known.

The campaign launches nationwide on June 24 and includes five spots developed by Los Angeles-based agency High Wide & Handsome. It features home footage from Horan’s family as well as pivotal moments from her professional soccer career, and will reach consumers across a range of touchpoints, including streaming TV, digital advertising and social media.

Hailing from Golden, CO, Lindsey Horan is a prominent figure in women's soccer, currently serving as the captain of the U.S. Women's National Team. Her journey in soccer began early, becoming the first female to turn professional straight out of high school in 2012, a testament to her exceptional talent and dedication. A three-time Olympian, Horan exemplifies excellence on the field with 148 game appearances, 35 goals and 35 assists.
