Yesterday (8.29), St. Louis’ Gateway Studios & Production Services (GSPS) hosted Missouri Governor Mike Parson at the site of its new rehearsal facilities, which are set to open in 2024, for a public signing of SB94 — also known as the Entertainment Industry Jobs Act. The bill will put Missouri on an equal playing field with other states and create thousands of new jobs across the state’s entertainment industry including contractors, building trades, freelancers, hospitality and many more indirect jobs.

Gateway Studios & Production Services’ CEO Trey Kerr delivered a speech prior to the signing, in which he discussed the bill’s lasting effect on job creation. Senator Denny Hoskins also spoke to the bill’s importance in boosting the state’s economy before Governor Parson took the podium to signify the start of a new future for Missouri’s entertainment industry.

With the signing of SB94, Missouri will provide incentives for touring artists for rehearsing in the state. Next year, Gateway Studios will play host to these artists and events when it unveils its state-of-the-art rehearsal facilities — multiple studios of varying sizes ranging from theatre to stadium. The site will be a top-notch destination for touring artists to rehearse their live shows and will bolster Gateway Studios’ goal to return Missouri to its former status as a premier entertainment destination.
