Grateful Dead Original Members to Broadcast "Fare Thee Well" Shows as live Pay-Per-View
In what is anticipated to be the largest syndication of a live music event in history, Live Alliance will air the Grateful Dead original members' concerts at Chicago's Soldier Field (July 3, 4, 5) in high-definition via a live Pay-Per-View broadcast in North America and worldwide through a robust online streaming platform. The Pay-Per-View special, distributed by MultiVision Media to both satellite and cable providers, will be available to watch in your home, on your mobile device, in clubs, music venues, bars, and movie theaters nationwide (through Fathom Events), and virtually anywhere with access to a screen. The three day, 15 hour special will allow fans from around the globe the chance to be a part of the event that Billboard says "will go down in rock history." The band's shows in Santa Clara, CA on June 27 and 28 will also be broadcast live through an online webcast.
Beginning on May 1st, there will be a special Pre-Sale offer to purchase the webcast of all five nights for $79.95. This pre-sale offer will be available through May 15th.
The Pay-Per-View event will be hosted by Pulitzer-Prize and Emmy-award winning CNBC reporter Steve Liesman, with special guest host, the two-time NBA MVP, member of the Basketball Hall of Fame, sportscaster and legendary Deadhead Bill Walton. The intermission will feature taped interviews with special guests, live fan interviews and aerial shots from Soldier Field, a short documentary on the Grateful Dead directed by Justin Kreutzmann, and more. For fans unable to tune-in during the real time broadcast, the special will also be available through Video-on-Demand for 45 days. Stay tuned to Dead50.net for details on how to access the broadcast.
"This is probably one of, if not the biggest, concert events of all time," said Nate Parienti, President of Live Alliance. "To be a part of it is a dream come true. We're thrilled to be able to bring this event to generations of fans all over the world."
"Fare Thee Well: Celebrating 50 Years of Grateful Dead" - taking place June 27 and 28 in Santa Clara, CA, and July 3, 4, and 5 in Chicago - will feature the four original members of the Grateful Dead, Mickey Hart, Bill Kreutzmann, Phil Lesh, and Bob Weir, reuniting for their last-ever performances together. The concerts will take place nearly 20 years to the day of the last Grateful Dead concert with Jerry Garcia, and the band will be joined by Trey Anastasio (guitar), Jeff Chimenti (keyboards), and Bruce Hornsby (piano).
