grentperez’s Cover Of School Of Rock’s “Teacher’s Pet” For Triple J Radio Out Today On DSPs

Recently, Sydney-based indie-alt singer-songwriter grentperez paid tribute to School Of Rock (his favorite movie) for his debut appearance on the highly popular triple j’s Like a Version series, with a cover of “Teacher’s Pet.” grentperez offers a modern twist on the childhood favorite as he shows off his mouth trumpet skills, and nostalgic outfits to match. Today, the cover is out on DSPs.
“Since I was a kid, I've held the School Of Rock film so dear to my heart, I recall days where I'd watch till completion and wait 10 mins for the tape to rewind to watch it again (given, I was only allowed to watch 5-6 movie tapes out of the collection at the time)," grentperez shares about the release. “The idea to cover ‘Teacher's Pet’ has lived with me since about year 8 when I first learned how to play guitar. I asked my music teacher if we could play that song as a class for the end of year presentation, unfortunately she said no as it would be a difficult task. To be fair she was right, my playing was pretty shocking. ‘Teacher's Pet’ strikes nostalgia at its core and makes you feel like a kid again. Thanks to Triple J, I had the absolute honor to play it for Like A Version and accomplish a childhood dream of mine."

grentperez released his Trail Mix Tape earlier this fall, via Fast Friends, and is currently on a world tour, which saw him supporting Eric Nam (YouTube Music’s Global Trending “Artist on the Rise”), and mxmtoon in New Zealand and Australia. He’ll be coming to North America for a slew of headline shows in Spring 2023 at New York’s iconic Mercury Lounge, Los Angeles’s The Echo, Toronto and San Francisco.
