Henry Jamison Travels Across The Emotional Spectrum on ‘Tourism EP’ -- OUT TODAY via Color Study
Collabs with Darlingside, Ed Droste, Fenne Lily, Joseph, and Lady Lamb
Today, modern-day musical bard Henry Jamison has released his ‘Tourism’ EP, a five-song collection which not only boasts a stellar line-up of collaborators (Darlingside, Ed Droste, Fenne Lily, Joseph, and Lady Lamb), but also a knack for blending ethereal, near-baroque folk with songwriting that is deeply personal to Jamison’s experiences while also universally understood in the lessons learned throughout.
Already having received attention from Rolling Stone, Billboard, Consequence of Sound, American Songwriter and more, Jamison’s ‘Tourism’ EP (produced by multi-instrumentalist Harris Paseltiner) is a forward-thinking collection that is a fitting addition to a discography full of “anecdotal songs written like the Great American Novel” (Billboard).
Content-wise, the EP finds Jamison excavating his own sense of self, whether it’s piecing together his identity through past and present on “I Forget Myself” (w/ Darlingside, who also plays as the backing band on the whole EP), regretting not counting his blessings on “Still Life” (accompanied by the angelic vocal female trio Joseph), or the ruminating on the “wistful folk-rock” (Rolling Stone) of “Green Room” which features Ed Droste of Grizzly Bear) that was triggered by a melancholy moment backstage at a gig when an ex’s favorite film played on the green room television.
Henry describes ‘Tourism’ as “a collection of songs that I wrote while being constantly on and off the road. It's really a short breakup record and an exploration of the dissolution of self that led to that breakup. Touring is such a wild combination of travel to incredible places, hard work, little sleep, deep but fleeting friendships, disagreement, partying, homesickness and general uprootedness. I also asked friends who I'd met along the way to sing on the songs: Darlingside, Joseph, Ed Droste, Lady Lamb and Fenne Lily (all touring musicians themselves) and now I can't even imagine these songs without them.”
