Hill Country Barbecue Market Brooklyn Announces Outdoor Dining On Willoughby Plaza

Acclaimed Barbecue Market to Offer Outdoor Seating, Grand Opening Celebration with Live Music on July 10th starting at 5:30pm

Brooklyn, New York (Jul 26, 2014): Hill Country Barbecue Market Brooklyn, the newest addition to the Hill Country Hospitality brand, is pleased to announce the debut of outdoor dining on Willoughby Plaza, with a Grand Opening celebration on Thursday, July 10, 2014. Hill Country Barbecue Market Brooklyn is located at 345 Adams Street, at the corner of Willoughby Plaza. Executive Chef Elizabeth Karmel has planned a special menu of barbecue, sides, and desserts for this outdoor setting which will offer diners the chance to enjoy some of Hill Country's best loved favorites on the plaza. "We're proud to be part of the growth and excitement of the Downtown Brooklyn community and to help energize Willoughby Plaza with an outdoor dining experience," said Marc Glosserman, owner and CEO.

The special menu for Willoughby Plaza will feature Hill Country classics as well as new and unique offerings. Highlights include The Butcher's Pick, a choice of ¼ Market Chicken or 2 Pork Spare Ribs or 1/3 lb. Lean Brisket, with cornbread and a side of your choice; the Chopped Brisket Sandwich, Hill Country's signature brisket chopped and tossed in If You Gotta Have It barbecue sauce and served on a Martin's potato bun; Smoked Brisket Tacos with pickled onions, Cotija cheese, jalapenos, cilantro and chipotle mayo; and Chili Nachos topped with Texas queso, EAK's Bowl of Red Chili, diced tomatoes, red onions, jalapenos and sour cream. Hill Country Barbecue Market will also be serving up Southern side dishes, including Longhorn Cheddar Mac & Cheese, Collard Greens with Smoked Bacon, Cool as a Cucumber Salad, and Sweet Potato Bourbon Mash, as well as a delectable selection of desserts like Banana Pudding, Cowboy Brownies, and the Brooklyn-inspired Mason Blackout Cake. Alcoholic beverages include a selection of draft and bottled beers, plus house wine and sangria. A selection of iced sweet and unsweetened tea, lemonade, and fountain drinks will also be available.

The Grand Opening festivities will include a performance from acclaimed string band, The Ebony Hillbillies, performing outdoors at Willoughby Plaza, presented in conjunction with the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership. The band will perform from 5:30 to 7:30pm, weather permitting. Later that evening the party continues indoors, as Austin bluegrass band, Wood & Wire, will entertain at Hill Country Barbecue Market at 8:30pm.

The 14,000-square-foot Willoughby Plaza was reopened in January 2013 as part of the New York City Department of Transportation's Plaza Program to build neighborhood open spaces. Renovations included new planted areas, sidewalk extensions, and public seating. The Downtown Brooklyn Partnership oversees maintenance of the public plaza, as well as community programming and events in the space.

"As the residential population in Downtown Brooklyn continues to surge and add numbers to the hundreds of thousands of workers, tourists, and students here every day, we need to meet the growing demand for more restaurants in the neighborhood," said Downtown Brooklyn Partnership President Tucker Reed. "That is why we are thrilled to partner with Hill Country Barbecue Market to not only bring online a great outdoor dining option, but also another live music venue - all of which helps to make Downtown a true 24/7 destination."

Willoughby Plaza will be open, weather permitting, Monday through Sunday, 12:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m., with seating on a first-come, first-served basis.

About Hill Country Brooklyn
Honoring the barbecue and live music capital of Texas, and inspired by the grand old meat-markets-turned-barbecue-joints of Central Texas, Hill Country Barbecue Market takes its cue from legendary Lockhart, Texas barbecue establishment Kreuz Market and its distinctive, dry-rub style. Under the direction of executive chef Elizabeth Karmel, the menu features Hill Country's Brisket (available moist or lean), Kreuz Market Sausage (Regular and Jalapeño Cheese), Boneless Prime Rib, Beer Can Game Hen and other meats, which are smoked low and slow over Texas post oak - a Central Texas hard wood that imparts a "rich, slightly sweet smoke flavor," as owner and CEO Marc Glosserman puts it - shipped directly from the Lone Star State. Hill Country's barbecue is served counter-style on butcher paper, weighed on a scale by the pound, with traditional trimmings of white bread, crackers, onions, and pickles.
