Hill Country Live Brooklyn Announces College Music Series, Beginning 9/26
Contest gives local college bands a chance to play Hill Country Live; students will receive 10% discount w/IDHill Country Live Brooklyn and the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership are pleased to announce the Hill Country College Music Series. This contest will help give local college bands a chance to play on the venue's stages, the latest venture in Hill Country's ongoing commitment to support and nurture the local music scene in and around Downtown Brooklyn.
Beginning this week, participating colleges are canvasing their student musicians, with one act from each school to be selected to perform on Willoughby Plaza as part of a new Friday concert series that kicks off September 26. From that group, one grand prize winner — as selected by a panel of Hill Country judges — will win a headlining slot on the main stage later in the fall.
As a bonus, Hill Country is offering a 10% food and drinks discount to all students with ID who attend any of the events to cheer on their college's band.
"It is our pleasure to extend an offer for student musicians to play as part of the Hill Country College Concert Series this autumn," says Jessie Scott, Director of Hill Country Live. "We are excited to see the variety and energy they will bring to the stage at Willoughby Plaza."

About Hill Country Brooklyn
Honoring the barbecue and live music capital of Texas, and inspired by the grand old meat-markets-turned-barbecue-joints of Central Texas, Hill Country Barbecue Market takes its cue from legendary Lockhart, Texas barbecue establishment Kreuz Market and its distinctive, dry-rub style. Under the direction of executive chef Elizabeth Karmel, the menu features Hill Country's Brisket (available moist or lean), Kreuz Market Sausage (Regular and Jalapeño Cheese), Boneless Prime Rib, Beer Can Game Hen and other meats, which are smoked low and slow over Texas post oak - a Central Texas hard wood that imparts a "rich, slightly sweet smoke flavor," as owner and CEO Marc Glosserman puts it - shipped directly from the Lone Star State. Hill Country's barbecue is served counter-style on butcher paper, weighed on a scale by the pound, with traditional trimmings of white bread, crackers, onions, and pickles.
