Hurray for the Riff Raff will join Bright Eyes for the second half of their 2025 North American tour, performing in 25 cities across the southern US starting in February. The artists previously toured together in 2022. Many of the songs on Hurray for the Riff Raff/Alynda Segarra’s latest record, The Past Is Still Alive, began to take shape during that tour; Bright Eyes’ Conor Oberst later sang on the album track “The World Is Dangerous,” and Mike Mogis also contributed across the album.

In addition, Hurray for the Riff Raff has recently announced that they will be joining MJ Lenderman & the Wind as special guests for Waxahatchee’s performance at Beak & Skiff this summer on Saturday, June 21, 2025. Find more information and tickets here

Since its release in February 2024, The Past Is Still Alive has been nominated for Album of the Year at the 2024 Americana Honors & Awards and earned raves from Rolling StonePitchfork, the AtlanticVogueVultureNPR, the New Yorker, Elton John and more. The New York Times praised Segarra for “etching their own story into the American songbook,” while Paste said the record is "the most important album of the 2020s so far...” The Past Is Still Alive has already been included on Best of 2024 lists from Uncut and Mojo, with Uncut stating, “Segarra remained committed to making astonishing music while the ship goes down.”

Praise For The Past Is Still Alive

"A memoir, a travelogue, a loose campfire singalong…Segarra is narrating their own experiences, etching their own story into the American songbook, and asserting that they belong there"

The New York Times

"The next great American road album is here"

The Atlantic

"Alynda Segarra has been a patron saint of troubadours for fifteen years…The Past Is Still Alive continues a mission of record-keeping for outcasts"

"One of America's best songwriters"

Vulture

"This is Hurray for the Riff Raff's Hejira, this is that Joni Mitchell high point"

Pitchfork, Best Albums of the 2020s So Far

"Astonishingly realized…the best batch of songs Segarra's ever written"

"Alynda Segarra is finding freedom in grief…their new record functions as a kind of queer Americana ode to the colorful cast of characters they have encountered over the years"

Vogue

"Their best album…The Past Is Still Alive, the star's ninth studio album, stands alone as a triumph in its production, performance and songwriting and practically every other metric"

Billboard

"The most important album of the 2020s so far—a stark, multi-dimensional account of boundless communal love, meditations on class disparity and despair and fear synthesized into a container of relentless courage"

Paste, Cover Story

"Just give Segarra a damn Pulitzer already"

SPIN

"A damn good Americana record with all the makings of an instant folk classic

Them

"A travelogue tracing the musician's formative years as a train-hopping, dumpster-diving punk troubadour, The Past Is Still Alive also casts the net wide to unpack the American Dream"
